I think a 2-door convertible RX8 would be possible, but I doubt Mazda will make it?

Of course, they probably get a bit of weight savings from losing two doors, and I'm assuming that a convertible RX-8 would do the same. Also, consider that the RX-8 already has "extra" bracing to compensate for the lack of a b-pillar. So I think they could probably do it if they wanted, the real question is whether or not there is a market for it.

Perhaps comparing performance cars, where stiffness is important, would be a better comparison:

350Z coupe--3247 lbs.
350Z roadster--3462 lbs.

E46 M3 coupe--3415 lbs.
E46 M3 conv.--3781 lbs.

If you want a convertible which will handle nicely, it takes a lot of bracing to make up for chopping the top off. It is quite likely that doing so in the RX-8 would add at least 200 lbs., which is not an attractive proposition.

ive been reading and researching and think I’m going to cut my top off and weld two light weight bars/ beams to the inside mid of both driver and passenger areas Yes you will have to step over it but it’ll just be about a foot. Then for my rag top I’ll use an old 2006 miata rag top and go from there and reason I shouldn’t do this to my 2005 6 speed manual in yellow ?

Yellow was only available in '04.
I don't think it will work, but what do I know?

I have a LY GT.
Personally, I think it's a bad idea, and unless you have more money than the car is worth and crazy body work skillz, it'll be a disaster.
Especially a GT.
Does it have leather seats?
