It seems kind of thick... Not sure if it looks all that good... May be wrong though.
Do you know if it replaces the current part of just lays over that?

thew 06-06-2004 02:31 AM

i think it sits ontop.. i want to put somthing there.. Leather would be nicer.. I may buy it and cover it with leather

mikeb 06-06-2004 03:38 AM

rx8spiritR 06-06-2004 04:56 AM

if you have a manual, i don't think you will put your arms all the way back there.....

rx8spiritR 06-06-2004 04:56 AM

and if it comes with out the little rotary symbol, it'll be nicer...

Well, I have my arm on the cussion most of the time, and I drive a manual. But I'll go for the red leather cushion from Mazda, looks better with black / red interior imho.

Mazda makes one ? I most deffanitly need the extra padding..
MY elbow gets sore .. My ares are long enough that my elbows sits on the pad while i shift..

P.s. i keep my drinks in the rear cup holders cause its the perfect spot for my long arms :)

Yes, but I haven't seen any NA dealers selling them. Only seen special order from japan, like japanparts.com

Not sure if they're extra padded, but at least they're leather and probably better than the standard cushions. And they certainly look better with a bi-color interior.

thew 06-06-2004 12:23 PM

JApanparts is a great source..
IS that extra padded or is it like oem but diffrent colors ?

MyRxBad 06-07-2004 10:12 AM

I wouldn't buy one... It's hard enough to reach behind me to get to stuff in the middle console behind the cupholders. I wouldn't want to have to hold up the door as well. (read as: there is no clearnace between the seat and the top of the door when it is in the up position)

Huh ?

wich unit are you talking about ?

and why do you want to get in the rear cupholders with the front one open ?

First of all the pic of the cushion is for the front.
Go back and re-read what I wrote.. You'll soon make sense of it. The door this cushion attachs to moves back to reveal the front cupholders. Then the door swings up to a "MIDDLE" console revealing a storage space and power outlet. The difficulty I'm talking about is to try and reach back there (power outlet/storage area) while in the drivers seat) and that is when the door (with no cushion) is open (and staying open) by itself.

The cushion that they are selling is way thicker then stock and the stock door just clears the side of the front seat when fully open.

thew 06-07-2004 02:55 PM

again with unit.. were talking about 2 diffrent units here.. i dont mean front and back.. i mean Japan parts vs the other padded unit.

again.. why are you trying to reach behinde you with the front console open ? I have np at all reaching the power outlit in there ..

but you are talking about the japan parts peice yes ?

loco4rx8 06-08-2004 06:22 PM

MyRxBad,

I understand what you're getting at, but I just received my Zeta armrest cushion today and put it on and tested it. I have no trouble with the center console lid staying open with this cushion installed. There is enough clearance.

thew 06-08-2004 09:34 PM

hows the paddedness :)

does it feel good :)

thew 06-08-2004 09:35 PM

soo maybe the Japan parts one is the bad one.. Although i was eyeing the black leather

Riccio 06-08-2004 11:40 PM

I bought the Zeta one on EBay - installs easy (a 5 yr old could do it) and YES - it feels real comfortable. A nice, cheap improvement.

thew 06-09-2004 01:44 AM

thank you

loco4rx8 06-09-2004 06:42 AM

Sorry I didn't respond earlier, thew. Yes, it's very comfortable. Not TOO soft, but certainly softer than stock. Looks nice, too.

Zetaproducts.net 06-09-2004 10:28 AM

The Zeta cushion pad is only 1/2" thick. It does not get in the way of the door staying up or when shifting. It sticks to the exisitng console lid using velcro tape.

thew 06-09-2004 11:46 AM

ok .. i think you have sold me.. i will buy it and try to get a peice of leather applyed to it.

Without anything extra the leather shoudl just sit ontop without makeing it hard to open all the way.

Thanks for your help :)
