I want to know everyones opinion. Should i go nowand buy a 2010 R3, or go with a 2005 Cherry Shinka. The price difference is 6k, please help with your exstensive knowledge pls. :wallbash:

Just posting some info to show that i'm not to much of a newb sauce. I've owned a RX2, 85 RX7, 87 RX7,91 RX7, 93 RX7. So i may have a slight case of rotary fever :)

Without knowing anything else other than a 2010 R3 or 2005 Shinka I'd say go with the R3. The extended warranty on the '05 will be up sometime this year, so it's a safer bet with the R3 in that regard. Plus, with the R3 you get sweet wheels and seats. Make sure to check out the stickies in each sub-forum as well.

Yeah, the warranty scares me on a 05, and the style of the R3 is so sweet. Thank you for your response :)

I like the aftermarket for the SI, but the engine on the SII is better, plus slightly better gearing.

If you seriously consider the 2005, get that compression test! You should still get it on the 09 anyway, but it's less of a concern.

R3 is my vote. Do you have any details about them though? It would help us provide better input.

Just get the R3, better motor would still have warranty, but do get compression checked out in any case.

R3 for me too. Newer and has more warranty leftover.

Mileage on each?

Assuming 12k miles per year for 8 years that Shinka sounds over priced.

It should be under 12k with the R3 around 19k again depending on mileage and condition.

I would agree and go with an R3, in addition to the wheels and seats a lot of the series 1 quirks were worked out, such as needing premix. Plus, imo, the series 2 styling is really nice without body work! Good luck on your purchase!

It's a no brainer... R3. Get a red one though, the blue ones are slow.

Unoriginalusername 10-08-2012 07:46 PM

Just got an 09 r3 today that's been parked every winter with low miles for 16k (Canada) and I love it.... I'd vote r3

G_ man 10-08-2012 08:42 PM

^Well lets see the car then, pics or it never happened

Bullitt 10-08-2012 08:58 PM

I'd have to go with the R3.

Shumster 10-08-2012 09:35 PM

What are the asking prices and the mileage?

My 09 R3 was 16k, I'm just curious to know what they want for the 2010

R3 I would say but i'm biased. Recaro Seats>Everything

Plus the warranty will give you peace of mind. Go for the compression test too. That way you'll have a benchmark for the engine condition to compare with as the car ages.
