Rx8 04-010

I was wondering if I was to buy a used 8 with some miles on it instead of getting a new r3 what would be your suggested cap on the mileage?

Most R3 have lots of mileage and time left on the warranty.....

Unless you live outside of the US and Canada, or you bought an early '04 that was sold and delivered in '03.

The real question should be "What is your actual budget?"

There's a big price difference between a brand new R3 and a used '04.

BC.

You also need to decide what your plans for the car are. If you buy a 09-11(s2) rx8 then the only tuning options are very expensive(replacement ecu). The s2's are possibly more reliable with the changes that have been made to the engine. A lot of the 09s will be out of the bumper2bumper warranty at this point, I know I am. I still do have the powertrain warranty though.

If you go with a 04-08 you can get the cobb ap for around ~$600 I think and tune it that way. So if you have any plans of going turbo at some point, or just want to be able to get more hp out of the car thats the way to go. You can also run a midpipe with no cel.

I would like to install a turbo eventually. I's been difficult finding an 04-09 with less then 80k miles on it though.. I was just wondering if getting something with that amount of miles would be a bad idea.

It's been difficult to find and 07', 08', or 09' with under 80k on it? Where do you live? That seems very odd, hell I think there is a blue R3 here for sale with like 10,000 miles on it IIRC.

I'll say get an R3. Even if it has a high mileage, it will still have some few years of warranty, specially on the engine itself.

I live in AZ right now and have only been looking within 100 miles. I found one but they wanted 22k for an 09 that had 24k miles on it. They wouldn't go any lower then 20k for it. I saw a couple in Navada (only about 6 hours from me) going for about 16k 20-30k miles. I would rather just fly there and drive it back.
