Just so you know, I've received more positive feedback about last years RX-Toys series, and this years Yokomo RC stories than any other stories every ... except for the Aug last year 20B issue. And the story about Gran Turismo 4 has also generated a lot of positive feedback ... there are TONS of guys out there who are addicted to that series of games, and if if didn't have so many rotary cars to choose from, we wouldn't do stories about it. Same as with the Yokomo RC stories. We wouldn't do them if you could get the cars with a FC or FD bodyshell.

I'm not the man ... but thanks

Well, I have a Tamiya 414M2, Tamiya EVO III, Tamiya TA-03F ... all the Tamiya's are pretty much pimped out shelf queens. They're just too damn perfect to get dirty. Then I have the Yokomo Drift chassis with a bunch of hop-ups (profiled in the mag), a Yokomo SD SSG, and a Yokomo SD CGM. I prefer real grip racing, but the closest track is 2 hours away. And for anybody considering a Touring Car, that Yokomo CGM car is a killer. I love that thing!

So this year I've got into off-road. I started with a RC10T4 and a Losi BK2, but this track (2 miles away) is 75% 1/8th gas buggy ... so I got a Kyosho Kanai II with a ton of hop-ups and a OS VZB Spec-V, 2.95 hp :D

So you see why I enjoy doing rc stories in the mag, hahaha

yes, im aware of those particular chassis, theres so many variants and limited editions of thier higher end tamiya cthassis that theres too many to count.

so why have you dropped so much into it if the nearest track is 2 hrs away??? the only place where you can really put those precision pieces of machine is on the track...

also, the CGM is by far the best drift chassis as well. the Yokomo drift chassis is basically a hopped up MR4, and the CGM is pretty much the same as the drift except with a huge amount of the yokomo hop ups and the graphite/carbon/aluminum parts. very durable too. right now i dont do track because i only have enough money to spend on my rx7(in fact i was gonna buy a SSG or another CGM with a novak 5800bl motor/esc setup, full factory hop ups, a JR XS3pro synthesized radio system, the works, all of the best components for the car(purpose built for drifting) but instead bought an rx7. oh well, i have enough fun with my drifter TT(tons of fun to muck around with because the TT's tubframe is probably indestructable with the amount of power any electronic motor could ever dish out) with yokomo chrome/gunmetal 6 spoke drift wheels, single ring zero one tires, trinity p2k2 pro 27t motor, front ball diff, rear one way diff, full sealed ball bearings, and a yokomo FC body and a HPI mazspeed 8 body.

but i would still have to agree, most people dont give a ****** about r/c's, replica's, models, etc. for example id rather read stuff on rotaries than the newest mazda related r/c stuff in rx tuner, but since i like r/c alot(as one of my secondary hobbies) i dont mind seeing rotary enthusiasts finding out about hobby level r/c, because it can be either a fun thing to do on the side that is relatively inexpensive or a very serious sport. theres a bunch of fun to be had and many people just dont know about it.

and nice offroaders you got, im into 1/10th rallying, i have a t4 as well.

BOOSTD 7, just FYI, I have only recieved 2 RX tuners so far, but I do like the content within those two. I look forward to seeing what else your magazine has in store for us this year, AND, if you need any help with your publication, drop me a line at catalyst.rov@gmail.com and lemme know what I can do. I am a novice at everything, but what the hey, we all start there.

yeah i'd love to do drift tech articles on the FC(one of the most reknowed drift cars) or on R/C review/tech. other than that im a newbie/novice, and i'll wait a good 10 years or so before start educating people about rotary cars.

Don't get me wrong, I am pulling for you. I like the magazine and am glad that there is a rotary centered publication. But I stand by my opinion, toys and games have nothing to do with rotary engined cars. There are plenty of toy magazines on the rack. Go with your strengths, focus on the rotary engines and leave the toys to those that specialize in them. Or even start a new book on toys.

Of course, I have not found a magazine yet that is designed just for me. I skip all the SUV and truck articles in AutoWeek and R&T.

Keep up the good work.

Tried to advertise with RX Tuner

Hey man.. I mean no disrespect... I am sure you are a real nice guy and you had a good thing going with your web sites (RX-7 and RX-8) but I am not so sure you have a handle on the magazine thing.
For one I am a subscriber and have gotten my magazines very sporadically.

For another I own a small automotive business and I called you guys to place an ad awhile back. I advertise in a bunch of car club type magazines and so when I talked to one of your guys I asked some straight questions...and NEVER got a call back.

I assumed you were not audited so the only way in hell I know how many magazines are really in circulation is by asking the following

1.How many magazines do you print (of a single issue)and can you verify it with a statement from your printer

2. How many magazines are mailed to paid subscribers. I don't care how many are on newsstand because all that means is they are ON the newsstand ..not purchased and read. Statistics show that 80% of mags on the newsstands go into the dumpster and not to real readers. Show me your postal statement (as a potential advertiser I have the right to ask for verification).

You said you JUST reached a deal with Mazda and I remember you saying the same thing (was it a year ago or months ago..I would have to look for the thread). So what is the deal? It's not anybody's business how much they pay for ads but how many issues they are buying to circulate to dealers would be something an advertiser needs to know.

A subscription card in with the new RX 8's? I gotta see this one. My local club just approached a dealer about a flyer (for the club)in every car and were told that stuff like this just isn't done anymore... One of the members had gotten an offer for a magazine with their new 3 and thought this was a good idea...so we all wondered how that magazine got to do this. Someone at the dealership thought that the Magazine was either owned by or was hired to do the magazine.

I called that magazine as an advertiser... I got a number of copies sent to me and a call back as well...They had all the legal stuff that is filed with the post office to prove their circulation and they explained they were not owned by Mazda but they have an agreement with Mazda and have an offer in ALL new Mazda owners kits. I asked how they pulled this off and they were polite and offered me a contact person at Mazda to verify. The lady did say that for a magazine to be offered to any car manufacturers new owners was under very defined guidelines and a lot has to do with privacy issues. This magazine carries millions of dollars in insurance and has staff from Motor Trend and other big league stuff).

Their ad prices were pretty expensive for me but I did some wheeling and dealing and decided to buy an ad in an upcoming issue. I don't know how well it will work but I will let you all know when the issue is out.

ANYWAY my point is... the RX Tuner magazine is just too much of a gamble for an advertiser unlessyou can show us proof of your subscribers and proof of the deal with Mazda (and then again I will get to all RX 8 owners plus 6,3 and Miata buyers as well with the other magazine). Maybe your other advertisers didn't pay because they did not get enough response from Tuner to warrant advertising..?

I thought it was hot that there was magazine about rotary but there is still a lot of it elsewhere (especially on the net) and I just don't know if there are enough subscribers to a paper magazine to warrant my ad dollars (and I pay) 12 X per year!
$22 bucks was nothing..I sure didn't mind subscribing.... but hundreds of dollars for an ad...Ya gotta convince me or at least call me back!

Have you tried Mazdasport Magazine. It is the old Miata Magazine brought back to life. I hadn't seen it in a couple of years but just got a copy. It has a lot of rotary coverage and is pretty well written. I promptly subscribed since I enjoy the Miata stuff also. Check it out at www.MazdasportMagazine.com.

Well, how about a suggestion or 2 for those that are trying to get their mags? I got charged twice for the subscription, but nobody ever replied to my emails about it, and I never got a reply when I emailed I wasnt getting them all either.

Hard to get me to pay that 22 again if I get this kind of response no?

Ryan posted....We did just finally (after 15 months) come to a deal with Mazda. The first thing that will happen is every new RX-8 sold will have a RX Tuner subscription card in the owners materials

We asked for clarification

" To date, you are the only magazine that is offered in the New Welcome Kit."

Mazdasport Magazine has really tried to look the other way when posts such as the above have popped up because we really did not want to look like goliath or look like we were not being good sports. But misinformation can be damaging. It can also impact our opportunity with potential advertisors.

Just to clarify:

Mazdasport Magazine is owned and operated by enthusiasts (it is not owned by Mazda) . It does however have a legal license from Mazda and is offered in ALL new owners kits. It is the ONLY magazine offered in new owners kits.

We do now (as we always have) wish RX Tuner the best but hopefully this post will put the above speculation to rest. Not trying to start anything here...just clarifying.

Maybe a bit off topic, but did the magazine address the issue with the Turbos and the fact that if you actually drive you're 8 anywhere and cruise down the highway in 6th gear that you are pulling roughly 4k rpms and the Turbo is spinning and generating A LOT of heat. Do that, for say, 5 to 6 hours on the highway and we are talking some serious problems. Is there an answer for that problem yet? Have people with Turbos seen any problems? I must see this magazine!

You may want to put that question into one of the apropriate threads for discussion, but the short answer is - it is not an issue.

The wastegate is open when cruising, causing the turbo to spin only relatively slowly. It is not heating the intake air significantly at all.
However, the turbo itself is being heated by the exhaust quite a bit. Some of this heat goes into the oil, but most of it gets carried away by the air flowing around the exhaust manifold.

I had my system off of the car a few weeks back after 3 months and 4500 miles or so and there was no visible wear and tear on the turbo. I'll probably pull it all again at the end of the summer for inspection.

Thanks...I didn't know if it was causing big problems or not. I'm just way to lazy to hit the search button, and I knew someone would tell me the answer even if it is poor forum trolling. I can take a flame or two.

the key words there are "to date". and you should keep looking the other way because from your statement it seems to me like you are trying to impact RXTuners potential advertisers. there is room enough for both magazines and i find it pathetic you would come onto his forum and do this. i doubt he is spending his time dissing your mag on its forum with its subscribers

I took delivery of my RX-8 on 12/31/04 and did not receive anything about either magazine. I did go through everything carefully. I had to rediscover Mazdasport accidentally on my own. Strangely enough, the day after a signed up for a subscription I received a complimentary issue (maybe by way of Mazda) in the mail.

I highly recommend it.

You sabotaged us once with Mazda, and I'm sure you'll now try and do it again. You're a big part of the reason why it took this long to get an agreement reached. So don't BS me, and don't act like you're Ms. Friendly. I couldn't care less about what deal you guys get with Mazda and I don't go sticking my nose into your business, so why not return the favor.

gpsguy - all I can say there is sorry. You probably did speak with me, and I probably mis-placed your info after speaking. If you want to try again, we have someone handling ad sales now (Brian and I were just overloaded). Not to mention I had my laptop stolen, which had everything on it I'd need to access in order to send you a kit. The person you want is Jane, her number is 904.215.9467

Genom - Try calling 866-RX-TUNER. They will take care of you, guaranteed.

My post was in response to a number of emails from people who have read this forum and asked for clarification. For expediency I posted the answer here.

Mazdasport is the only magazine that is offered in the new owners kit. (Nothing more to say...no malice.... no sabotage)

We have been working with Mazda since 1989 (first going to all new Miata owners) and then with Mazdasport Magazine.... we have no ill will for RX Tuner and really have more to talk about with Mazda than another magazine. Our pub is different (all Mazda), we have a 16 year relationship with Mazda .

The post was to clarify an inaccurate statement.

and will you return to post again to clarify your own "inaccurate" statement when you are shown to be wrong? i hope not i hate these stupid pissing matches. you should have just left it alone. do you think he's purposefully lieing? just because YOU have not been told does not make it untrue.
