RX-8 Virtual Focus Group from Mazda - just got invited

I just got called to be part of a "virtual focus group" conducted online among RX-8 owners. Haven't gotten details on it yet, but has anyone else gotten this call?

Ironically, I'm one of the most satisfied owners out there - only thing wrong with mine is an occasional creak from the driver's seat.

Make sure you tell them to revamp their marketing.

jaguargod 07-21-2005 04:01 PM

Hopefully they aren't just contacting the owners who haven't yet made any service claims.

A phone call? or a letter? was sent to you.

Yes, I also received this phone call today. They asked for my email address so they can send me the information. Will post contents here when I get it, should be good for a laugh. :D

zoom44 07-21-2005 05:03 PM

funny how they never call me....

StewC625 07-21-2005 05:05 PM

PHone call as well from somewhere in Manitoba. Woman sounded like she was from the set of Bob & Doug Mackenzie's Great White North. (Who is old enough to remember that?)

I'll post contents of the email when it comes.

i think i got something like that, i'm not sure though. i got a phone call and then a few emails... it didn't take me too long to fill it all out though, so it wasn't bad.

I got a call today for the same thing. Was going to post it but StewC625 beat me to it. Waiting for an e-mail with details. I'm also in the no issues group...makes you wonder how they made their selections.

They called me like 2 weeks ago, just got an email from them on monday, haven't bothered to look at it yet.

Luftwaffle 07-21-2005 08:06 PM

They called me the other day, but I wasn't at home. My dad answered and gave them the wrong e-mail address to contact me at. Do you know if there's a number I can call so that I can participate? I would like to. :)

Okay, I just did their survery thing. Its a web based questionaire that makes you use a pre-registered email address (the one you signed up with) to answer general compalints about the RX8. Its not a open based forum, it gives you a selection of general areas like : transmisson, brakes, exterior paint, interior trim.... then once you select one it gives you choices of things that could be wrong with your car, you just click the box (leaky seals, squealing brakes, etc.) and have an area to make additional complaints about the car.

They have a "no Problems box" that lets you click on it and just make general comments, so I talked about how great the car was made, but how it needs more power, like a 3 rotor supercharged mazdaspeed version(you can call it an RX-9.) I doubt they'll take it seriously, but my 8 hasn't had any problems since it flooded the first week that I had it in June 2004.

rx8wannahave 07-22-2005 06:55 AM

Other than the mail in servey's and a phone call servey...no one cares about rx8wannahave...:(

It's THE MAN's fault, he is always keeping us down...

:p

HEY! If anyone responding cares to, or is motivated by the fact they bought the NAV.... Tell them that even the oldest RX-8's had outdated maps, they should give out free updates to all Nav owners, if and when the update disk EVER comes out.

Take off, eh!

The lady that called me sounded like a sweet little grandmother from the midwest. Still haven't seen any email from Mazda yet.

Mine sounded that way too ... but with a solid Canada influence - the old "oot and aboot in a boot" accent (translation: "Out and about in a boat"), and she even paid me off with an eh? in there.

I got the email today. I believe they are using profiling to get a cross section :) of owners. Maybe I'd get better mpg with this one. :)

Must have something to do with the zeroes I rated the dealer on the sales side.

Seriously, I have never received any communication from Mazda regarding consumer issues or even the airbag recall. They have my correct address, I have verified on several occasions.

tiggerlee 07-27-2005 06:29 PM

I get crap from Mazda all the time. Thank you letters, surveys, coupons, flyers etc.. The only thing I keep are the coupons, the rest go in the trash.

I got the call to join their Virtual Focus Group on Friday night - exactly 5 weeks to the day from my purchase date - also the day I picked up my RX-8 from it's first service call (replaced cat, paint rusty rotors, replace leaky coolant hose).

If they meant to stack they deck they didn't know I had dropped the `8 off for service on Tuesday. :)

Maybe if everyone mentioned this than they would take it seriously. So, everyone, mention to them WE WANT MORE POWER! We don't really care about new color options, etc. we would rather have more power. :)

I got a call for this a long while back.... and never heard anything again. I guess the only conclusion I can draw from this is that the RX8 has been discontinued.
