RX-8 Paint chips

I have just purchased a new 2005 RX-8 (Red of course) and have only had it for 5 weeks. I was washing it and getting it ready for a full wax job and noticed that there are many paint chips where a rock or other object must have hit the hood. Though the chips are hard to see I can and am a little disappointed in this. Over the past couple of day I have noticed that there are new chips.

I am going to purchase the paint to touch up the areas affected before they grow, but was curious of other owners are having the same issue.

Is there a solution out there to recoat the hood and air dams to have a tougher coat?

I love my car and just can't bear to see it all marked up. I wonder if this is coverd by the manufacturer?

I have chips. Luckily I was given touch up paint free with my purchase.

Search button will help you out a little

Just remember to always enjoy your car, it's not worth worrying about every single chip.

p.s good color choice

theres a great DIY about getting rid of paint blobs. touch up paint is not to be taken lightly, you should really read up before blobbing all over your hood. but the blob removal technique of scratch-x and a credit card (without raised numbers) really works!

Blob is the word of the day. Everyone use the word "blob" three times sometime today.

oh and here is the thread with all the goodies on touch up paint and ** removal (can't say the word again or I'll be over my 3 limit!!!)

Thanks for the replies. I'm going to get the touch up paint and do the Blob method from http://www.langka.com

Someone from work told me there was a product like a clear tint or like the protective shield for PDA's and PSP that can be applied to a car's hood. Is there such a thing. I would think that moisture would cause more damage to the paint and air pockets from the heat and cooling. Interesting though.

Thanks again.

3M makes it, it's expensive to apply but you can see a review on the stuff here

it's KEY PROOF which is amazing, installation is guaranteed for at least 3 years.
