is the RX-8 okay in Canadian winters?

I'm new here ... I'm also very close to becoming a new RX8 owner. There is only one thing getting in the way of my decision .. hence my question to all you experts :)

I'm in Toronto. So, if anyone knows how winters get here ... is the RX8 okay to drive in the winters provided I have winter tires? Just so you know, I'll be getting the GT so I will have both Dynamic Stability Control and the Traction Control System.

I would truly appreciate a totally honest and un-biased answer .. if possible.

Thank you in advance :)

Since you're new, I'll be polite and not tell you to do a search ;). (But doing a search in this section or the Canada regional section for 'winter driving' would turn up multiple threads that discuss this topic) :)

Winter tires are essential, but with them the RX-8 performs very well. Actually, I'm going to have to tell you to do a search - there are many threads that cover winter driving, and winter wheel and tire selection, especially in the Canada section. Search for 'winter wheels' or 'winter tires' and read what the choices and options are. I participate in a bunch of those threads, so you can search for those keywords with my user name to find some good discussions. Here's one to get you started:
First test of RX-8 in snow - it's great!

Feel free to ask any more questions (if winter tire and wheel related, in the Tires and Wheels forum section or the Canada section) after you've read through some of those threads.

Regards,
Gordon
