RX-8 at Dealership in Bountiful Utah

A friend of mine who lives in Utah said they have an RX-8 on display at the Bountiful Mazda dealship in Utah. He said he doesn't remember what color the car was, because it was on TV. But he says this Dealership is state of art, with an Internet Cafe and a bunch of techie stuff.

Figured someone in Utah would want to know.

The grand opening of the Bountiful dealership was Jan 23. It's supposed to be one of the largest dealers in the country. :)

"The blueprint for our new retail experience blends modern-day advances such as wireless technology and computer kiosks with sleek architecture and customer-centric design elements to create a car-buying experience like no other," said Charlie Hughes, president and CEO of MNAO. "This concept injects
our Zoom-Zoom philosophy into our dealer network, and customers will find that purchasing Mazda products mirrors the excitement of driving Mazda products."

"We're thrilled to be the first Mazda facility in the country to be designed from the outset to deliver Mazda's vision of the future buying experience," said Michael MacDonald, president of Bountiful Mazda.

I was just reading about this today- it's going to be the blueprint for the next generation of Mazda dealers, and will try to reflect the fun, sporty attitude Mazda is trying to display. Sounds pretty neat! From Feb. 3 Automotive News:

SALT LAKE CITY-If Mazda wants to break from the rest of the Japanese automotive pack, it has made a dynamic move with a showroom design unveiled here last week.
A riot of blaring orange, vibrant green and electric purple, the new Mazda dealership is miles from the conservative grays and whites of most showrooms.
"We wanted something that stood out, something that matched our idea that Mazda is fast, fun and cool," said Charlie Huges, president of Mazda North American Operations.

They're also going to encourage customers to REALLY drive the car on test drives:

During the test drive, the customer is encouraged to drive more aggressively than he or she might normally. Flooring the gas, stomping the brakes and squealing the tires around a long corner are encourages. Rather than the usual five-minute stop-and-start excercise, the test drive can be 20 minutes long.
Jack Peake, a salesman at Bountiful Mazda, welcomes the change. A self-proclaimed "gearhead," Peake informs the driver of fun stretches ahead and how to get the most out of the Mazda being driven.
Maybe we should all visit Utah to test drive the RX-8???

This is the same dealership that I had already posted about them having the car back in Jan.. They had it for that weekend was to my understanding. It was a red version. I don't even think the car is there anymore or has been for 2 -3 weeks.

Yeah, we have one down here, too: Premier Mazda of Georgetown.

Personally, I prefer the test drive philosophy we encountered at Mazda South when we bought the 10AE Miata: "Take it for an hour or two; we'll be here when you get back. We only have one rule: don't deploy the airbag!" :D
