Rust on brakes. Any truth?

So... a few months ago my brakes were squeaking i took the car in for the TSB. They supposedly siad my rotors needed to be resurfaced and it cost me 120 bucks. Then they supposedly did the TSB. A day later my brakes still squeaked.

I decided to wait until i needed an oil change to take it to the dealer, so 2000 miles later i take it back to the dealer and say.. hello my brakes are still squeaky and i think it's coming from the back. They call me later and say. You bought your car in another state and there's rust on the brakes and nothing we can do about it? I was like.. what? nothing? and they said nothing. So i was kinda pissed cause i know they can do something. Do you think the dealer was lying? Can't they fix it?

Thanks.

My brakes also squeak. When I took my 8 to the dealer they told me that, because of the large rotors and metallic pads they usually squeak. They also said it would get better with time and it has. I noticed they squeak more when it rains.

The front brake squeal is covered by a new TSB version which includes brake resurfacing (if required). finishlineperformace.com lists all the TSBs; just print out the right one and bring it in with you. If they hassle you then go somewhere else or contact Mazda North America.
What year is your car?

I don't thing resurfacing is included with the warranty. Last line of TSB states:

-additional diagnostice time and rotor machining cannot be claimed for this repair;

Oh. Okay. Maybe that applies in Canada only but it's what the Mazda guy told me.

Where's the rust? The hub or the rotor surface? All brake disks get rust on the rotor surface. Just look at the rotor 5 minutes after washing the car before you drive it again. Rust is gone the first time you use the brakes. Sounds like you need to go to a different service department.

yeah because wher eyou bought the car makes adifference- call the 800 number and tell them you were told that and ask which dealer you should take it to

I had my brakes changed, rotors resurfaced and painted - for free. Open Road Mazda (NJ).

Checked out my breaks at my Dealer yesterday - both his and mine have been repainted but because of the material - if you wash them a whole lot a little rusty area appears between the area that is grapped and the central painted core. It's a pain but it seems to be because the metal has to be soft enough to be grasped and worn away as part of the stopping process - bummer!

Man, took my car to my local dealership and complained of the brake squeal. They kept it overnight, and today they tell me they couldn't "duplicate" the problem. BS! I "duplicated" it about 5 times on my way home, cursing them every time! I'm going to a different dealership tomorrow.

That's pathetic. I'm sort of lucky, considering I'm friends with 2 of the 2 service managers at my dealership. I had the spark/starter/battery recall done, regardless of my turbo installation.

dont switch dealers- get them to rifde with you so you can make the squeal happen for them
