Rotary Resale / Oil Consumption

I have two questions. They are unrelated so I decided to post them here.
1) For those of you rotary enthusiasts, how was resale on the earlier generations of rotaries? Do you think the 8's resale will be similar? Why, why not?
2) Someone told me they had read that the 8 consumes a lot of oil? (i.e. "You better check your oil every two tanks of gas") I didn't buy this because I've never read about the problem on this board, so, for the record: Could there possibly be any truth to this in a non-freak-case scenario?

Thanks for any help.

Typical oil use is a bit variable, but you'll probably see something on the order of 1 quart used in 2000 miles or something similar to that. The checking frequency (every other fillup) is really just a precaution, once you've got some miles on it then you should be pretty up to speed with knowing when it's time to check. I typically give it a look once a week along with general checks (tire pressure and other similar normal maintenance that you should do on any car) There are some oil use threads floating around which show others' experiences.

Resale value isn't really much different for a rotary I don't think. The notable exception to that might be the FD rx-7 which, depending on condition, can still fetch pretty good money, especially for a 10 year old car. I believe that's mainly because of it's reputation/looks and relative rarity since they were only sold in the US for 3 years. I don't think the rx8 will hold any more resale than any other quality/sports car, unless it goes out of production or something and they become rarer.
