I would raise hell at the dealership and if the service manager does not respond then go down there. If you can not get him then go to his higher up. The service reps are usually the bait and distract individuals who keep people off the service managers. He doesn't want to be bothered. All most all of the individuals I have had contact with at Mazda are Cock Monkeys. I dislike fake individuals.

If you have a friend\family lawyer friend then have them write the dealership owner a letter. It won't cost you anything and it usually sparks a fire for ya. Do not back down and just claim it on your insurance. Think about the long term impact on your self and your premium for a self claim total loss. No bueno hombre. The dealership has deep pockets, find them and dig in'em!

Post your story on Yelp as well. Just for good measure.

For the record Mazda is Mazda IMO. I don't care, even though it is a bit ignorant, if it was the north or the south local Mazda dealership. You took it to Mazda to get fixed, regardless of which location. Don't let them pass the buck to someone else. They were the last point of contact period!

As a fellow '05 Shinka owner, I'm especially sorry to hear this.

But don't fret. You took the car in to have this problem fixed, and they didn't take care of it. Whether the party at fault is the dealer that replaced the engine or the dealer who simply "popped" the fuel line back on, I'd bet any amount you'll be fully compensated. Let your insurance company go through the calls, paperwork and legal haggling about out who's responsible; that's their job. As long as you're compensated, shouldn't matter to you who was at fault.

That mazda dealers on the hook for this one, regardless if they charged you or not when it got towed in the first time. Just thankful youre alright.

those clips are for preventing the blue and red bits sliding outwards and thats how your unlock the connectors.
when you want to remove the connectors, you pull out the clips, then slide the red/blue bits outwards to unlock.

I was just browsing this site and saw this thread and i said to myself...holy crap! First things first, your okay, that great. Secondly, wtf. Third, i hope this won't happen to my car and other cars like that. To keep my story short...your alive, that's all it matters now. The car is just a piece of metal.

Mad props to my insurance company Progressive. They are covering the vehicle 100% so I am not loosing out on anything. They are the ones doing the cause inspection for me as well. They feel the chain of events went dictate the need for one. That will take about a month. The outcome of that that report will determine the action they and I take next.

I wish they had just recommended changing that hose out..... a small price to pay in part and labor could have probably saved me a huge headache.

The GM that never called me back is the GM of the dealer itself. The ones I spoke with were the maintenance supervisor and the maintenance gm....... I didn't get anywhere but did not expect to.

Glad your okay. I had a very close encounter like this with one of my FC's (fuel rail cracked), lucky for me I was right by a very good dealership. They fixed it for me and it only took about a week and $400. I hope everything works out in your favor, such a sad thing to loose such a great car.

typical dealer fuck up, they didn't bother to investigate why the hose poped off. second time you weren't so lucky so car caught on fire...
