Reprogram Creditcard style Remote.
I have 2 remotes creditcard style. I was searching around and found how to reprogram but not my type of key. i changed the battery and now its not working. so now i have 2 non working remotes. Is there a way to reprogram them?

My car came with 2, one looked like it was never used but the battery was out. The other looked like the buttons were used but the battery was still good. Last week i took out the battery from the old one and swapped it to the newer one.
It worked without me having to reprogram it. Check to see if its the battery. |

Here's the right procedure. Don't know if that will help at this point.

I'm having the same problem,
was thinking it's the unit itself. I had the battery replaced, it lights up and everything but will not unlock/lock the car. If I find out anymore information I'll post here as well. |
I changed the batteries on both remotes.. No luck

Those things are such a pain in the ass, half the time they unlock the door but won't let me start the car and the other half i can start the car but not unlock the doors. Does anyone know if I can swap them to a switch blade key and still retain the other features? I think the biggest issue with these style keys is that the transmitters and recievers are quite weak.

*I love my key fob*
Lemme give my key a big hug ... *mmmmmmmmmm* Well, my father's now-sold CX-7 have those credit card style keys, never had problems with them, it's just that when the battery is weak, u gotta stick it pretty close to the key knob area to get a signal. Replace the battery and it's good as new. |

When mine went dead, the dealer said the 'module' was shot. I assume they meant the receiver. But it was a PITA when it was dying. I had the exact same issues you described.
I actually LOVE mine. I just place that little thing inside my pocket and forget about it the rest of the day. And i agree, its super convenient not having to reach into your pocket to unlock the door. All you have to do is click the button on the door handle. |
When I first replaced the battery on mine, it didn't do well. I replaced it again a few months later and it's been flawless since then. I'm guessing it's been 18 months now. Sometimes a really fresh battery can do it.

I've been having the same issue with mine. On some days I will sit there and hold the key right next to the receiver and it will still be locked up and won't let me start it, but the next morning it won't give me any problems.
Also, pressing the button on my door handle only unlocks the driver's side. Is it possible to unlock both doors from one side without reaching in my pocket? I have tried holding the button down, but it still only unlocked my side (given this could've been a time when the transmitter was acting up). |

press it twice.:dunno:
Is this just a flaw, or are both doors supposed to unlock when I hit the button on my handle (either by holding or clicking twice)? |

I've just been using my remote to unlock both sides. When I press the button for my side the passenger always assumes their side is unlocked when they hear the beep. When they realize it's not it usually comes down to a war of trying to not hit the unlock button at the same time they pull the handle (some people are just too impatient)
