Reducing brake squeals?
 

So it's happened since I got the car brand new 2 years ago. Never did say anything because thought it was pretty normal. It would actually come and go. But recently, it's been doing it every time I brake now and it gets even louder as well. I went to my dealer last week and told them about it. The 8 is still in the warranty, so I figured it would be covered or something.. Well no. They told me it was probably me because I somehow brake too hard and abuse the car. And my only option is buying new brakes. Of course they didn't believe me when I told them it started happening from the beginning. What have you guys done to reduce or eliminate the brake squealing? I heard probably buying some brake pads or whatnot.. I'm embarrassed to brake at a red light. I feel like a damn train making a station stop.

Yea, that's what I first did. Just decided to make a thread afterwards just to get some more info from others. It's confusing. Some say the HPS pads works and reduces the noise. And some don't agree. Cleaning the brakes. And bed them. I guess I'll look into it.

there is a technical service bulletin on it. I was at the dealer yesterday bitching about it and they test drove it. It only seems to happen when the brakes are dry and yesterday was a wet day. Of course during their test drive it didn't squeal at all but they told me next week when I go by there to pick up a part they ordered that they would check it again. According to the bulletin they will replace the pads if they can "verify the customer concern".

The TSB is specific on the service that they need to do to fix the brake squeal, but the dealers typically just want to change the pads and bill you (the customer) instead of fixing it as per the TSB.

You can also do the TSB yourself, with some brake grease and brake anti-squeal.

I took my car in at 13,000k miles to have the TSB done and they didn't want to do it, and then when Mazda finally approved the service to be done they didn't use any of the brake grease or anti-squeal that the TSB says they should; so the brakes started squealing again 2 weeks later. I did the TSB myself and solved the problem.

Mine did that when i got the car tore the brakes apart cleaned them (very very very good) and have not squeaked since only once and awhile when they are wet from rain....I'm a cleaning person but changing the pads usually gets rid of any noise you would have (unless ur a cheapass and buy cheap junk ones)

Bed your brakes. Do you know what that is, or how to do it? It's easier than you might think.
