Red tent below

i Just bought a mazda rx8 with 92,000 miles on it but i noticed that the little red tent light is on, i heard it could be the antifreeze level or the radiator? any thoughts?or helpful solutions?

Go to the first link in my sig, then down to post 7 i think, maybe 8. There is a list of all icons. Which one are you calling the "little red tent" ?

Did you ever think to read the manual?

 @ red tent. That's a first.

I don't think it's a tent. It's a merry go round. Your car wants you to visit a carnival.

But if it really is a tent, it wants you to go to the circus.

Or...maybe it's just the coolant level sensor...either the level is low or the sensor is bad. But that's just a guess. And not nearly as much fun as the first two choices.

I would guess coolant level as well. Check your fluids, if all is good you may have a bad sensor like many others on this site have.

Red tent...lol

Anyway, that is your coolant warning light. Your coolant might be low, check it. If its full, then it could be your coolant sensor is defective or malfunctioning.

Tent? I thought it was a hamburger

At least mine went off everytime I stopped at mickys d to eat a buger. so I thought it was a burger warning light
BTW
on some 8s, this is normal.
the sensor is bad but it is not cost effective to have it fixed
I was quoted about 500 bucks to fix it
was told that when it got replaced some other part would break, and other parts had to be replaced. forgot which ones, I think they said the radiator, cause the small spout thingy would break. nature of the beast

summary
just keep an eye on the water level and u will be ok

...just keep an eye on the water level and u will be ok...
And unplug the connector from the sensor, so you don't have to stare at the merry-go-tent all the time.

hahaha...i actually used "red tent" to describe the light on my first test drive...it came on at high rpms...the dealer and i had to look at the manual to identify what it was

After I changed the cracked coolant reservoir it started heating up. After looking around we found that the radiator was cracked from one of the outputs that connects to the hoses of the tank. We ordered the radiator and changed it and the red light now turned off! Thank goodness :)! The weird part is that it has this hot smell to it and its been almost a week since we put the diluted coolant in.
