NgoRX8 05-10-2007 01:07 PM

why max gear?

mysql101 05-10-2007 01:07 PM

because it rocks. and can be used in tran and diff, same stuff. so just buy 4 quarts

CarAndDriver 05-10-2007 01:12 PM

MaxGear! Great reviews on here. Better than Redline in colder temps.

NgoRX8 05-10-2007 01:13 PM

oh my bad... rp max gear.. LOL i have that.. noob mistake.

nycgps 05-10-2007 02:26 PM

+1 to Max gear

Just buy 4. no headache. fill it up. oh yeah.

Swedishmax 05-10-2007 02:39 PM

I just filled up my M-tranny with 1.95 QT of royal purple 75w/90 so far it works great...im not sure about the rear dif and how much that takes. but 2 qt is enough for the trans. cost me $9.99 a bottle

XXXrx8XXX 05-11-2007 07:06 AM

is royal purple 75/w90 the specified type for our cars?

RTFM

it means

Read The Fuxking Manual.

Good lord' ....

to your question, yes. you can even use 75w140, but lets not get into that, since you're too dumb to look at your manual already.

yes...like i said ... 75w/90 at 1.95 QT is what is recommended. now it's up to you if you want to use synthetic...or the traditional sludge. i chose the former.:Eyecrazy:

I'm picking up some RP Max Gear as soon as I leave the office.

shaunv74 05-11-2007 07:38 PM

Redline MT-90 for me. Never tried the max gear but definitely like the redline. Don't get GL-5 for your tranny. Make sure it's GL-4.

CarAndDriver 05-11-2007 11:59 PM

The OP is an idiot.

baseballgenius80 05-30-2007 10:33 AM

Red Line is working great for me so far

LionZoo 05-30-2007 12:49 PM

One caveat about the MaxGear; since it's a combo oil it has additives that are supposed to help the diff grip. Unfortunately, that might lead to a heavier gear oil smell than normal when the car is warmed up as compared to standard transmission oil or the Redline stuff. I know a few people that have the MaxGear get the smell and you might or might not get it. Other than that it's a great oil.

This thread is in the wrong forum by the way.

devildog1679 05-30-2007 12:53 PM

I got the smell, I'm use to it by now. can't even smell it anymore, but when my wife gets in she smells it.

XXXrx8XXX 05-31-2007 07:18 AM

hmmm went to the dealer and got Motul what u all think technosynthese or some shit gl-4 shifting is a bit better but not so much impressed with it , it still grinds a bit when cold but i noticed the tranny is much , much cooler now when u drive

musclecarconvrt 05-31-2007 02:55 PM

I just switched to BG Syncrhoshift II. Much smoother and easier shifts.

CarAndDriver 05-31-2007 03:07 PM

The OP is still an idiot.

rx8nizati 06-01-2007 01:01 AM

im content with royal purple

StealthTL 06-01-2007 01:08 AM

Red....

I find the Redline MT90 a bit thick, I cut it with about 1/3rd Redline MTL. The MTL is much thinner, gives the 'box a silky feeling.

I use straight MTL.
Always have.
