Really quick question for someone.
I'm going to ask the dealer when I go see the car, but I would like to know what your perception of this is..
The car I'm looking at purchasing comes with a 3 year warranty. Keep in mind that it is a 2004, so the Mazda warranty is about to end if it hasn't already. It says on their site that the warranty includes this; 1-ENGINE All internal lubricated parts, engine block, plus ignition and fuel delivery systems. Check engine lights are not covered. 2-TRANSMISSION All internal lubricated parts, case, torque converter, final drive. 3-DRIVE SHAFT AND DIFFERENTIAL Rear drive vehicles, includes case, rear end, and lubricated components within. 4-ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS Starter, alternator, battery, ignition coil. If there was a problem with the car shifting into sixth gear, would the warranty cover it? I feel really stupid for asking and you don't know the dealer's answer, but I do expect you to know the mechanical components of the RX-8 and may be able to give me an idea. Thanks! |
You might really be able to kick their ass on the ignition coil thing... get those replaced for free or a small deductible.
Why are you asking specifically about the 6th gear. Did you test drive it and have problem with it? If you did have a problem, I'd ask the dealer to fix it before you bought the damn car. Make them aware and reduce your risk. |

This Also, make sure you read the small print on that extended warranty. I'm sure it has a deductible and some restrictions. You want to know what those are before you buy. |
Having a warranty sure is nice but I would be weary if its not from a Mazda dealer. Getting warranty work done by anybody but Mazda would be a gamble at best. Imo

No. I haven't bought the car, I'm not that stupid that I wouldn't have it checked out, thank you. I'm going to go look at it this week and the guy said that was a problem found so I looked at their warranty information and was wondering if that specific part is covered in what's listed since I don't know very much about the mechanical components.
Yeah, I'm not too sure how it all works out yet but I will know by this weekend. He told me that every car they bring in, they bring it to the correct dealer for it to be checked out. Check my other thread for more information about the car and what the dealer said if you want to know. |

A "dealer" has an RX8 with a transmission problem.... Okay, so I'll buy the car from the dealer with an "extended warranty" since they cover the components, right? After you buy it, you go to the extended warranty folks with a claim for repairing the transmission. Really? You KNEW it was a problem before you bought it. If the dealer tells you about the problem, and then suggests that you fix it under warranty after it's purchased, they're telling you to commit fraud. It's an identified pre-existing condition of the vehicle. Have fun getting sued if you try to cover it up and file the claim. |
best thing to do is, look around for an 06 or newer.. they have become so cheap now, im sure you can find one in your state or out.. what is your price range Im bored as f... so i'll help you look
|
Yeah, I'm trying to get one of my family members to cosign for me so a newer model is a possibility. If that doesn't work out then.. well I don't know. Guess I won't be getting one anytime soon. Price range can go up to $16k but I think I've found a Shinka for lower <3

I hate to say it, but if you have to get a cosigner, perhaps this is not the time to buy (anything). No offense meant, and none taken.

How come? He just needs help...just sayin'. |
I really don't think I need to go into detail about my personal and financial situation but I am prepared for how much it's going to cost and I do have the money to buy this particular car, that's all I'm going to say. No offense taken :)
