Read this about the 100k warranty

The 100,000 warranty is SSP77. Mazda North America verified this to me along with data on the model years covered. You need to submit to MNA your VIN# and they will check date of manufacture for your 8. Even if you have a 2004 you may be out of warranty if date of manufacture is prior to today's date (more than 8 years etc.). Also GET A REFERENCE NUMBER when talking to MNA. They will give you one to FORWARD TO THE DEALER. Until I did this my local dealer was not very cooperative. I am thinking the reference to MNA gets their attention. My RX8 is in the dealer shop now for evaluation of the warranty protection, and I will update the forum on the results. The engine is blown, no compression, metal in the oil pan, etc. The dealer (when first contacted) was asking for "verified oil changes" and other bullshit that was not related to the engines's complete lack of compression.
ALSO you are still covered under SSP82 dealing with the clutch pedal, which should be inspected and repaired if necessary (100k miles, 8 years)

More to come......

Does it specify manufacture date, or original date of new purchase? There was a 5-month gap between my manufacture date and the date I drove it off the lot. This isn't uncommon; sometimes the gap is up to a year.

Its based on the date it first sold, not manufactured.

for engine warranty, the Dealer still has the right to deny warranty work, they can come up with 20 different excuses and blame it on u. Sometimes they are just lazy. Some dont even know that you can claim some warrany more than once. Of course there are honest dealerships that will just do the work no questions asked.

For example on my fc, the seat belt(the track and its related assembly) has a lifetime warranty and some dealership(especially if the service writer is young) have never heard ofit and tell u to piss off. In some cases some 7 owners gotta give them the print out and the ssp number for them before they will do anything.

Mine is production date. Oct 2009. I bought it brand new in July 2011. I asked and got confirmation in writing that my warranty started July 2011.

Well, here's the bad news. The warranty does not cover the blown engine, because the coolant level was not sufficient and the failure was due to "heat". This 8 was driven by my son, who says he had no warning light, no smell of coolant overspill, nothing. "It just died." The dealer claims a code was on for "check engine" but nothing else? Most teesenagers nowadays think "check engine" means drive it until it starts to make rude noises, then tell your Dad he might want to , "check the engine." Not sure what to do but it looks like my hands are going to be pretty dirty for the the next few months.....checking everything out from rebuilding it myself to buying a reman........

You are correct, warranty starts when you drive it off the lot. I have a 2004 that has warranty until 2/13.....not that it does any good, as I now know....
