Random but...

Picking up an exhaust for the 8 this weekend... but I have no other vehicles i can use to pick it up. So... the question is, will an exhaust fit inside the 8? ( Plan on wrapping it in towels ect. to protect interior) Anyone tried/done this?

I had my HKS and my mid pipe in with no issues but I couldn't get the stock system in there. The HKS was a single outlet so if you are going with ANY other system it will be close.

Right on, going w/ greddy sp2... I'm thinking if i put the piping inbetween the back seats leading into the trunk, and have the exhaust propped kinda angled it might fit. I'd hate to drive an hour though and have it not fit. That would just be awkward.

Did you try that method w/ the stock system?

Honestly, I think you could do it but it might require a sun roof and/or some open windows/ maybe some less-than-comfortable driving conditions.

I was asking if you tried that specific method.
But thanks anyway for the advice.
Hopefully someone can verify that this is doable.

Yes i tried it and it would not fit. IIRC I had very little time to try and make it work, but it did not, and I am pretty good at shit like that.

I just picked up a Greddy SP2 like two weeks ago, it separates into two pieces, just bring a socket set and a couple of wrenches and you'll be fine. I'm not positive but I think it was 14mm.....After you separate them then you can just wrap it up and put it in your passenger seat with it all the way back.

I took my racing beat home in the car

DarkBrew 11-18-2010 09:02 AM

+1
Racing Beat fits in the car and the stock exhaust fit in a corner of the shop, never to be seen again!

Sweet, thank you for the help!

More members outta consider buying a beater. Especially those living in Northern states that can experience cold and snow filled Winters. I have my 8 and my wife has a Solstice. Both cars are horrible in the snow in my opinion. For this reason I have a '98 Grand Cherokee and she has a '01 Explorer Sport. The advantages are we can garage our "babies" in the Winter and we always have a means of transporting larger items. (ex. your exhaust) I got my Cherokee for a little over $2 K and her Explorer for a little under $2 K. You can really get a good deal on a beater especially if your somewhat mechanically inclined. Sorry to thread jack bro!

Thats why I luckily live with my parents still. I can just use theirs for work hah. But NJ isnt always that bad. Last winter was rough tho.

I feel ya man, i'm 20, working part-time and school full-time. Paying 400 a month for my 8. Worth every dollar but i cannot afford a beater ATM. Unless i get this pending promotion at work = D
And the thread jack is cool, i got the info i needed. Ohio winters are rough also... bought my 8 a year ago, first mt, and rwd car, and a pretty bad winter. That was fun.

Whatever you do, just don't scratch up your car accidentally. I've had a bad experience in the past, that's why I say that.

Try to take a safer route if possible. For example, it could be a wise idea to ask a friend or family member to come and take you in their SUV/Truck/Van. Just a random idea..

you know you can rent a truck from lowes or home depot cheap as dirt for an hour right?
