Ramps

Can anyone suggest low clearance ramps that aren't going to cost me an arm and a leg... My husband saw these at walmart and said they weren't tall enough... but they are taller than the ones I am finding online. He has a lowered Magnum which has lower clearance than my 8. Thanks!

I have these, they are ok, but the car tends to push them forward as you try to mount them. They don't get the car very high off the ground either, and since the wheels are not off the ground...just on the ramps... I have to wonder what I was thinking when I got them :uhh: Oh well  !

Goodwin Racing has some great ramps.....kinda pricy though :)

http://www.mustangworld.com/ourpics/...amps/index.htm Is what I did.

I added an extra 2 x 8 and some wheels to move them around. These ramps are not cheaper and weigh more than Rhino Ramps, but are MUCH easier to drive up on.

Interesting... that is basically what he has been doing so far....

that's the same type ramp i built a couple of years ago even before i got my 8. i used 2X6's and this ramp system has worked with dodge trucks, little toyotas and my 8 after the dealer does the first oil change.

I have these same ramps (Rhino, from WalMart), and they work fine for me. I basically only use them when I'm changing my oil or removing the front bumper for whatever reason. I've never had any problem with them sliding on me. I guess it depends on how smooth the floor you are working on is. I use them in a standard asphalt driveway.

I have a pair of molded plastic ramps from Advance Auto Parts; they are low and have a high capacity. They do tend to slide but I stop that by putting some tool box rubber liner under them.

I'm guna have to get some rhino raps or blocks. I can't lift my car up from the front or side...

Spin9k 04-16-2006 08:54 PM

Better solution, get one of these (you can find much cheaper than this too - mine was sears and was ~$180), you can lift the front, back or either side, then put some jack stands under it... and it's easily portable. A bit more but worth it...

aww.. make sure your car is higher than 3.5 inches. lol.

I have some cheap ass ramps and use 2x8's 5ft. long to up my front end which is fairly low and works fine, though I don't have a solution yet to lift the sides because of the skirts, but once the fronts in the stratosphere I use my cheap ass roller jack for the side lift, which also works ok. I guess its a matter of choice :)

Just stack some planks or get 4 hydraulic jacks

stickman 04-17-2006 06:55 PM

I have trained my rx8 to sit up on command. Roll over and play dead are two things I am not going to teach it.
