In the Rain
its been raining here in vegas the past couple of days. Just wondering if anybody has taken there's out in the rain and how it handles (DSC off and on).

mmmmmm, well, I suppose some people just dont like to drive in the rain... to each his own.
Anyway, just like in every other aspect of this wonderfull driving machine, its awsome in the rain.... just be carefull of "Giving her the Beans" on corners or she'll slip out from underneth ya :) |
and here and here this is specifically about driving in rain in vegas and definetly read THIS ONE! it is the most important thing to watch out for when driving your rx-8 in the rain. especially silver or titanium. |

If its any consolation, its raining in So Cal now and it handled perfectly in the rain. The 8 kept me where I was supposed to be even on corners (DSC on). Take her out, give it a try.

don't be a wuss, drive it in the rain. just take it easy on the corners, even at low speeds...i almost lost control and learned a valuable lesson..

Handling in the rain is well above average. However, handling in snow/ice with the stock performance tires is horrible (plenty of threads on this). I unfortunately experienced it first-hand tonight - about 70 miles of icy, snowy, variable road conditions on Rt 80E through the Poconos in PA tonight. Downright scary at times... I didn't expect it to perform in the snow/ice, and wouldn't have taken the 8 on the trip if I knew the roads were going to be so bad on the way back home. I counted at least 6 cars that spun out and slid off the road...
|
Wasn't too bad in the rain but got better after siping the tires.

i cant believe some of you guys drive with the dsc on.

Zoom 44 to the rescue. Thanks that last thread especially was hillarious I am sorry that I didn't find it before.

I just went San Diego to Burbank (again) last night and in the pouring rain for most of it. The car feels good in the rain and I was probably going 65-80mph where permitted, which is a little bit faster than I normally drive in the rain.
Anyhow - no issues at all, very well behaved in rain. I generally keep the traction control turned on unless I'm on a faimilar road to have fun. I don't find it very intrusive under most normal circumstances. |
OK, This may sound dumb but why you so afraid to drive in the rain some of you?....
Also DSC is a joke on any sports oriented car Dry,Rain,Or snow. |
Just bought my WB RX8 yesterday. Drove it home in the rain and I must say it handled superbly, even at high speeds. I'm so in love with this car and to be honest I think it handles better than my mom's G35c in the rain (and I only got the basic 6sp, no sport package or anything)! Hey Doug, I'm also in Vegas.
