radiator/coolant
Is it necessary to change the whole coolant thing once you reach 60k and other liquid stuff?
Should I take my car to the dealer and let them perform the 60k service or I can just do all of them? Thanks |
Yes, you should replace the coolant. No, you don't need to have a dealer do it. There isn't anything in the dealer's list that is difficult.
Here is our list, which might need more skill: 30,000: - Replace Ignition coils - Replace Plug wires - Replace Spark plugs - Clean MAF (mass air flow sensor) - Clean ESS (e-shaft sensor) - Reset ESS profile - Clean power steering connections - Clean battery terminals and clamps - Replace transmission fluid - Replace coolant (Mazda FL-22 is highly recommended) - Replace air filter - Replace brake fluid (fluid in the brake lines AND the clutch line) 60,000: ...all above, plus... - Clean all chassis electrical grounding points - Replace accessory belts - Clean OMP lines - Replace rear differential fluid - Replace thermostat - Clean / Straighten AC condenser fins - Clean / Straighten oil cooler fins - Inspect catalytic converter - Clean / Inspect intake valving - Consider / inspect all points in 90,000+ as well, many items fail early |
So i need to buy a new coolant assembly which will cost me about $200?
Thanks for your help |
"Coolant" is the liquid. You buy it in containers, drain out the old, refill with the new.
A radiator is $150 from Mazmart for the manual transmission, just under $200 for the automatic. Thermostat is $65 or so. Lines can be all over the place. Coolant bottle is $130 with radiator cap |
Thanks much..

Where can i get that FL-22 for radiator?
|
Any Mazda dealership should have it in stock. Ford dealerships should have it as well, but under the name Motorcraft Specialty Green.
|
What about amazon?
|
Yes, it's on Amazon too, just make sure you get enough.
