racing beat--opinions and what to check on new car
 

I just bought a 05 gt with 3600 miles on it....yes 4 years old and 3600 miles on it. Since it hasnt been used much what are some things I should get checked up. I have read the batt and starter are crap so should i bring it in even though its working great? Are there any problems with the 05s?

Also I was looking into parts and Racing Beat seems to have it all. I love the idea of their intake and pipes but wonder about the quality and how well they preform. How are there springs and sway bars? Compared to tien and the like what do you guys like best. I dont want to make it too low but want it ready for the occasional autocross and track days. Do you guys like their sway bars, are they a recommended upgrade over stock?

Do you recommend changing the shocks over with the springs or will the stock ones work well.

Do the plug wires make a noticable difference?

I've never touched Racing Beat personally, but all I hear are quality reviews.

Save on labor costs and do the struts with the springs.

I heard 05's under 5000 miles tend to explode randomly.


Anyway, are you still under B2B warranty? If you are, I'd change the starter / battery

yeah i bought the extended warrany or whatever for 3 years or something.

So you think the racing beat spring and sway bar kit all at once, has anybody used it, any user opinions about it.

I almost am positive im getting the revi kit just because the package is clean and not noisy cause im a more of a sleeper guy myself.

are plugs wires worth the money at all, any noticeable difference?

Racing Beat delivers on what they promise and their quality is is very high. But they are not the wildest/most extreme when it comes to modifications either. Bottom line, read their write-ups and they'll tell you what kind of gains to expect and you should see just that. They're a staple of the rotary community and have been for a long time.

The extended warranty is 4 years after the original owner bought the car. So just hope your car wasn't bought in 04. I doubt it was.

I got new plugs and wires because my check engine light was on / flashing. I think you're supposed to change them once a year. So that's your call.

^original bumper to bumper warranty is 4yrs 48k miles from original purchaser purchase date and plugs and coils are recommended between 30 and 40,000 miles!
PS still on my stock coils at 41,xxx

And i'm changing my coils tomorrow. 48k miles. So there you go :)

racing beat sways are nice and stiff - definately a good upgrade - you might also consider upgrading your endlinks as well -

the springs are nice - however, what will you be looking for? stiff ride? or soft? or just looking for ride height? Keep in mind that RB's springs only drop about .5" - a lot of forum members are currently sitting a lot lower.

plug wires are worth the money when you need them - if your car begins to feel a little sluggish, try checking the wires and plugs - it may be a failing coil.

Atilla, im looking to stiffen the car up and make it handle better. What could I expect from th racing beat springs/sway bars. I dont want this car to be bouncing down the road like the olds you see roll by with worn out shocks lol though. I will be taking the car fr some autocross and track days and dont mind a little bit harder ride getting there. but i dont want to go there feeling like im riding in a go kart lol

Racing Beat makes some very quality stuff. I have a few of their gauge components (senders etc) and a non-resonated midpipe. I got a chance to get the car up on a lift and see the fitment of the midpipe the other day and was really impressed with how well it fit and the clearance. I was at a doctor visit so I had a friend at a local garage throw the pipe on and he said the quality was great and he had 0 hassles or problems with fitment. It is quite loud however hah.

okay so now i know rb has the god stuff, but what difference will I feel if I do their whole suspenion kit(springs and sway bars) will I be okay keeping the stock shocks or will i be bouncing down the road lol

ALso where do i get those mazda M emblems, the ones that look cool, instead of the mazda sign the are like a M

Racing Beat is the best, however others compete for that too.

Make the top three vendors equal and Racing Beat is one of the three.

they changed the battery and starter in late 05.

Depending upon mfg. date you may already have the updated parts.

Don't need the starter in your not in cold weather.

Get the Access Port fromm or BHR coils. That will stop all the cold start issues.

struts = shocks.

racing beat is definately a good choice - look for bundle deals from certain websites - i know good-win-racing has a pretty legit deal on some racing beat stuff - there's also some vendors that have em' at good prices - be sure to shop around before buying -

springs, shocks and sways are definately a good start :bigok:
