Is this an R3?

I'm looking at purchasing a low-mileage used RX-8. This one is being billed as an R3 on their Yahoo! Autos ad (confirmed by the dealer internet sales weasel), but the spoiler (or lack of), seats and wheels make me think otherwise.

Your expert analysis is greatly appreciated.:worship:

Get the VIN number and call your local Mazda dealership and they'll tell you.

But it doesn't have the wheels, the seats, the body additions etc., I would say it's not an R3, and if it is then all the R3 parts have been sold off and then it's not worth it anyways.

R3 has no sun roof and Recaro seats

pistonhater 06-26-2012 02:33 PM

The car on the photos has a sunroof. So it is a GT not an R3.

You can confirm with the VIN # as stated above.

You should tell them they are advertising the wrong vehicle.

The spoiler (or lack of), seats and wheels....combined with the fact that a sunroof was never available in the R3 trim...says those photos are definitely NOT of an R3!

Thanks for helping to confirm my suspicions. The search continues...

Sue the dealership for false advertisement and you may get that car for free ;)

Or a lambo, thats a serious crime.

It's also missing the splitterm but the sunroof tells it for sure. Not an r3. Could just be they've screwed up the images.

Good luck with that one (attempting to sue while the car sits there). That's not a Mazda dealer, so it is not they are selling high volumes of that vehicle under false advertisement. It is a car from a different make they are trying to sell at their lot.

That happens a LOT actually. Dealers often 'wrongly' advertise cars from other manufacturers either because of lack of knowledge, laziness, or both. It is up to the consumer to be informed.

A case like that would not sustain. The dealer can simply acknowledge the mistake and rectify. Few lawyers would be successful at bringing that case to court and get enough money out of the deal to buy a Lambo.

Having said that - however - you might have a better chance at pursuing legal action AFTER buying the car. That would give you and your lawyer way more leverage.

As far as I know, it should have the oem body kit and a spoiler, unless it's been added to look like an R3...lol

Are-Ex-Eight 06-26-2012 08:35 PM

Be careful of used cars too because some people swap the wheels and recaros off their R3 (hmm who would do that lol) before they sell/trade them in.

The VIN won't tell the whole story if it's used.

It's a Ferrari 458 Italia... :evil_laug

This looks like a classic case of "stupid salesman fat finger" always trying to make their shit into somethin it's not. Move on if you don't want a GT.

brilliantblackrx8 06-27-2012 11:53 AM

Here's an example of one I looked at last week. Look at the vehicle description.

I sent them a nasty-gram since they are kinda local to me.

jasonrxeight 06-27-2012 03:20 PM

Gt gt gt.

OddEclipse 06-27-2012 07:15 PM

I actually emailed him and he said "thats what the computer pulled up based on the VIN... do you want to buy it?" I told him I would only buy a used rotary if he had detailed service records... no response.

Orthonormal 06-27-2012 11:25 PM

You should have told him to get some new software for that computer.
