Quick qeustion

A friend told me that the RENESIS engine was equal to twin turbos. Is that true.

RobDickinson 11-20-2003 08:38 AM

uh, no, the Renesis engine is a normaly aspirated engine. No turbo , no supercharger.

It does have 2 rotors, and sounds similar to a turbo when running (just the turnbo, not the rest of the piston engine).

I think he means HP / speed / performance vs the twin turbo. Remember early output numbers of 250 hp?

renisis puts out 238 HP while twin turbos put out 255 i think. Reninsis turbocharged would put out more than the old twin turbos plus the renisis is lighter and smaller.

The renesis is lighter, mainly due to the lack of turbos.

The renesis does put out a very commendable amount of power, but the forced induced setup still puts out more, because the engine has the same amount of displacement, plus more air flow being forced in, that in turn means slightly more horsepower, but a hell of a lot more torque.

But, IMO a turbo car, HP for HP always feels faster anyhow, because of the slow/lag/fast nature of the power.

The renesis has such a flat torque curve acceleration is very constant.
