Quick help - bumper question

On Monday I'm bringing my 8 in to have the bumper replaced (some woman kindly left a couple license plate screw impressions in my bumper). I completely forgot that the autobody shop (which is supposed to be the best around. I waited two months for this appointment) might not realize that I have both the aero and rotary accent packages. Does anyone know if the rear aero flares and the rear rotary accent can (will) be removed and placed on the new bumper? Is that normal insurance company practice? I'm also worried that the paint might not match if they in fact do that.

thanks in advance.

the rear aero flares can be moved, but the rear rotary accent must be removed and re-applied with new adhesive. make sure you tell the bodyshop. don't take a chance.

Thanks NGORX8

I dropped the car off this morning. The guy had anticipated the rear flares needing to be replaced and ordered new ones (they were called "bumper guards" on the invoice - not sure why. I told him to make sure). However, he didn't know about the Rotary Accents and I pointed that out to him. He wasn't sure whether or not he'd need to order a new set.

Yep as long as you "babysit" them to make sure you get what you want and point out stuff like that so they know. Sometimes little stuff like that is overlooked by the bodyshop/insurance companies either by mistake or to cut costs.

A friend of mine was having his front bumper replaced on his brand new 350Z after a raccoon was hit and the insurance company ordered a used bumper to replace it and after some heated talk they ended up ordering a brand new bumper. They also tried to avoid repairing broken bolt mount on a plastic shroud that was hidden by the bumper but was listed on the parts list as being ordered and installed.

His point was he doesn't pay discounted insurance so the insurance company shouldn't be putting discounted/used parts on his brand new car to save a buck.
