I do not own an RX-8 yet, but I would suggest that you do all of the above. Be careful, though, as pressing that button too many times will cause your engine to flood.

I feel you though, the first thing I plan to do once I get an RX-8 is to press the "traction control dsc." There is nothing quite like pushing that button for the first time, I have heard it said.

Also, I think we'd all like to know why you need it on to go pick up your son? Does he live in a castle of some sort that is accessible via only a twisty, ice-covered road?

The tracton control will come back on by itself when you turn the car off and then back on lol.

I'm calling the police.

ZiegeR, I just checked your weather and the temperature is only 37F/3C. If you still have the original tires on that came with the car, it's too cold for them. They are meant for summer temperatures only (above 5C/40F absolute min.). Get some snow or all-season tires to handle these temperatures.

Read your user manual as well.. has all that wonderful information neatly printed in easy-to-read English

If you turn on the flux capacitor and drive until you reach 88 mph, you should be ok.

Wow... sarcasm at its finest.

So just because I make a couple of smart-ass comments I'm a troll?

I don't get it. I thought it was pretty obvious that my post was a ridiculous exaggeration...just like turning your wipers on too many times flips the car over.

Epic fail on my part. Lesson learned!
