Herkypilot 08-26-2004 09:55 PM

County?

Hey down in Cabarrus County...not nearly as bad! I always considered property tax on cars a scam anyway...politicians finding another way to get their hands on our money!

Racer X-8 08-26-2004 10:22 PM

Yup. Just 1 year. Ah, they get you one way or another. Around here, it's property taxes.

Bahstahrds!!

RotorGeek 08-26-2004 10:32 PM

i wish mine was that much. We just got our bill (3,900)

RUmble 08-26-2004 10:37 PM

Racer X-8 08-26-2004 10:42 PM

Oh , yeah, and Rotorgeek, holy crap!!!!!!!!

RonD-NM 08-26-2004 10:46 PM

over $1000.00

Z00M RX8 08-26-2004 11:12 PM

$2457 here, and thank Howard Jarvis for Prop 13 or it would be close to $6000

RotaMotion 08-26-2004 11:14 PM

Try $4,000/year for a modest 1,300 sq ft three bed two-bath house in the San Francisco Bay Area. That's an extra $333 a month in payments just for the friggen taxes. Even if I pay my house off I'm stuck with a significant payment to "the man" for the rest of my existence in this house...

Oh, and it would be around $500/mo if I were being taxed at assessed value. It just crazy out here

310Guy 08-26-2004 11:19 PM

I hear ya bro. West L.A. - my condo is about $2700 a year.

LiveBlues 08-26-2004 11:54 PM

I don't think that he was talking about property tax on his house. I think that he was talking about property tax on his car.

I could be wrong though.

Racer X-8 08-27-2004 06:29 AM

No, you're right. The tax is just on my 8. Sorry, I should have noted that. Ok, now I gotta go find my prop tax on my home... :) I'll be back...

Mugatu 08-27-2004 06:34 AM

You guys got nothing on me. I pay $6500/year for taxes on a 3 bedroom house on Long Island.

Elara 08-27-2004 06:51 AM

And we were just complaining about ours- for 2 cars we had to pay $260...thought we were getting the short end of the stick. (our property tax isn't nearly what everyone else's is, either- around $2,500 for a 2,200 sq ft 4 bedroom house). I feel rather fortunate right now....

StewC625 08-27-2004 06:53 AM

No property tax on cars in Illinois (yet another reason why I live here), but the property taxes on houses are a bitch ... $10,000 year on my house!

mysql101 08-27-2004 06:57 AM

My wife's dad has a house in NJ, it's $8,000 a year.

If the same house was in newark, it would be $20,000 a year just for taxes.

One month he paid over $3,000 just for the heating bill.

Next year when gas prices are expected to hit $3 per gallon, forget about it..

Racer X-8 08-27-2004 06:59 AM

$837.65 prop. tax on my home last year. 3br, 2100sqft, 1.18 acres in a nicely established suburbian subdivision. Thanks guys, I'm feeling much better now. :)

Mugatu, man, that's rough. That difference alone might justify my buying Hymee's blower, when he gets it ready. ;)

RUmble 08-27-2004 07:04 AM

Eek. Property tax on cars? I never heard of that.... maybe luxury tax... I don't think there's property tax on cars here in NJ. I should feel lucky then.

RotorGeek 08-27-2004 07:48 AM

Thank god they don't tax cars here in florida

Fritz the Cat 08-27-2004 09:10 AM

You guys pay property tax on CARS? Man, I thought Canadian taxes were bad, but I guess we're not suffering as much as some!

Which is not to say that we're not getting nickeled and dimed to death other ways ...

fluque 08-27-2004 10:28 AM

$450 for my RX-8 in VA

Can someone explain this to me? Are you saying you have to pay $559.80 every year separate from your car insurance just to own the rx8? Is that actually an annual property tax fee? I've never heard of this, so someone please clarify it for me. I paid sales tax on car when purchased, and I pay car insurance, and that's it. This is new to me.

Racer X-8 08-27-2004 10:55 AM

Yeah, in some states, you pay property tax on cars & boats as well as homes. Like homes, they are appraised & taxed a millage rate. Add school district, etc. porkbarrel taxes also...

If you don't pay it, your registration expires. Gotta pay the taxes before they renew the registration. They get done together here. The registration renewal fee is in there as well.
