probably early, but what's expected for the 2005 model year?

As I recently posted, I am considering an RX-8 to replace my M3. Besides a current year model (2004) I might be able to wait until the 2005 model year (I guess starting Sept/October of this year).

Besides fixing typical first year problems for 2005, any news on what is expected for 2005?

I guess another way to ask the same question: should I simply wait for a 2005 model?

I'll probably wait for an '05 too. I waited for the second-year Miata ('99) and, if that's any indication, Mazda will only make tiny changes to address first-year "teething problems". It would be nice if they could get less mileage variability from car to car, and maybe redesign that plastic cover that some say feels like it wants to break off. But I'll probably get an '05 even if they don't change anything!

This makes me laugh.......... :D

Sine all the American issue 2003 models are called a 2004 model. (thankfully, 2003 models RX-8s here in Oz are actually called a 2003 model)

Using the same whacky logic. Now that its 2004, shouldn't this mean all American cars have been 2005 models for the last 3 weeks.

Search for this one. It's been covered many times.

Don't knock what you don't understand. The American model designation system may appear odd to the outsider, but it's actually quite logical. I've explained it previously here (in a thread which, conincidentally, was discussing things that might be added on the next model).
