Preparing for winter storage

Hi folks,
It's almost that time ... it's starting to get chilly, and soon snow flakes will come down upon us. This means one thing at least... my Shinka will be in the garage, under her blanket, sleeping for the next few months.

My big question is - what do I do to it to make sure she's ready to tear rubber as soon as the salt goes away? I've got an oil change coming - but what else do you folks recommend? I still plan on taking it into the driveway, and running the engine at least every other week or what-not..

Your [serious] comments are appreciated. If you do the same and have a ritual, please let me know!

Oh, and in case you're wondering what I'll be driving all winter... it's an '89 Jeep Comanche Pioneer... 130k mi, a lilttle rusty but goes like the dickens!

Here's a very recent thread addressing that very topic:

Mine's just about tucked-in!

I was wondering the same thing...This is my first winter to put her away. I'm justgonna was and wax and change oil. I heard to overinflate the tires or use jackstands so there are no flat spots on the tires. And put anything in the exhaust so animals don't get in it. I just bought a beater it is a 88' Plymouth Sundance really rusty with 165000 on it...lol

I don't Winter store mine per se. I switch to my Jeep as a daily driver, with my '8 in the driveway under a top grade California Cover (only two car garage and I won't give up my warm daily driver space). I drive it once a weekend thruout the Winter, country roads, when the roads are dry and free of snow/ice/salt. If longstanding snowy roads (which is pretty rare these days), I trickle charge the battery overnight weekly. A crisp, clear, Sunday morning drive, even given Summer tires, is a lot of fun. Our '8's are fun even taking it slow.
btw: I plan to go to all season tires end of next year, but not yet as my OEM Dunlops only have 14K on them.

I will run mine here in Wisconsin all year, but use my work car for crappy days.

Well we just got our first snow, that means I will be storing the car. Wont see the road until after a few rains wash away the salt & sand. This means I will have to find a low profile jack & put the stock rims back on & pull the batter.. I thought about putting her on stands, but I worry about a mistake somehow & not knowing for a while, since I live in a APT and dont check in the garage every day.
