Poll: Gold or Red Calipers on Silver Rx8?

I am thinking about cleaning my brake calipers and replacing brake pads while i'm at it

i mind as well paint the calipers as a protective coating (and for looks) :aroused:

so i was going to paint them red when i saw a video where a guy painted them brembo Nissan GT-R gold and i thought that might be good as well

red might be too...ricer looking....and i do not want that

so what color do you guys think will be best to paint them?

lumiester123 12-29-2012 08:11 PM

Do you have a color scheme going? If not I think black is a pretty neutral color you cannot go wrong with in my option. In my option leave red for Brembro's or the caliper comes that color. I would also look into powder-coating so it lasts longer.

no i do not have a color scheme going

powder coating would be nice, but im sure it costs more and i will need to have to take the caliper off from the hoses which means i need to put it back on and then bleed the lines and then...its best if i leave the brake loop closed lol

Well, I say do them black but thats just my option, unless you want to start a color scheme. Just make sure you do them properly otherwise they will chip and it will look like ass. Anyways good luck and let us know how it goes.

no to painted calipers unless they're done in silver or black. keep the stock brakes... stock looking.

Gold would be way more rice. IMO I vote for black though.

Red will look cool and different on a silver rx8.

... if that was to me, Panther zinc coated with MTEC pads. Stop perfectly now... although tbh, stock are superb, but these are better and don't cost the earth.

alnielsen 12-31-2012 08:50 AM

I don't have an opinion, other than I wouldn't put one metallic color with another. Therefor, I wouldn't use gold on your silver car.

how does the zinc coating hold up? i was looking at r1concepts and im worried that the zinc plating might easily fall off or wear off

Look up thread title rotorpros.

Like a dream, I'm actually surprised myself how well mate, I was expecting it to last a month ... however have to say 2 months down the line, still perfect... will take a piccie to show you post 3k miles :-) and some horrible UK weather lol.

Mine are red (and the car is silver). Don't find it ricy at all, it's just a little accent. Nothing too loud, click below.

If you want something thats going to last and not look like a garage 10 min job, you can pull the calipers down to bare casting and ahve them chemical filmed. its used alot in aerospace. the finish depending what class you have them do it (class 1,2,3) will be anywhere from a nice gold to a copper color.

Same here, I have a silver car with red calipers but mine were that way when I bought it. I think it looks fine.

Doesn't look ricey at all, and it looks okay.

Jeff77789 01-03-2013 02:39 PM

do those red calipers darken over time with all the brake dust? or do you have to clean them over time to keep them shiny?

i saw a matte black paint for calipers and a gloss black paint for calipers as well as a glossy red paint for them and i will be definitely be painting them glossy

off topic, but is that the way you are supposed to mount your rotors? or are they backwards?
