Polished alloys
 

Haven't order mine yet, I'm trying to be patient. When I do, I'm dead set on the polished alloys. I understand I have to get them through the dealer. Did anyone have them put on at port?? How much was the accessory cost? I really don't want to buy 2 sets of wheels.

Do they automatically come with the rotary symbol center caps?

Trussville is the place to buy stuff - so far the best pricing anywhere! Everybody here buys from there.
Click the hyperlink, then select RX-8, 2004 & accessories exterior. Bam! They're on the top of the list! $390 each. The picture enlarges for a closer look at 'em. Since you'll have the pressure sensors, you might be careful who you get to mount them. I would use the dealer if he doesn't poop on your head for buying them from somewhere else. If so, go to ANOTHER dealer! Or a REAL GOOD tire shop.

Is Birmingham close enough to drive to? (that's about where Trussvile is) Might want to see them in person, then have Trussville install them!

Funny thing is, I'm in a small town and we have a brand new Mazda dealership and I know the owner. I understand the dealers can set their own pricing on the accessories. MNAO is not setting these prices, just suggesting I suppose. So I plan to order the car with all the accessories up front. So hopefully he'll be reasonable on the wheels.

It's such a new dealership - they have no accessories and have no idea what the prices are either. They have sold 2 8's so far. I've driven them both, but very short distances. It seemed sort of unspoken with everyone at the dealership that these cars are special and should be preserved for the lucky new owners. What I did discern from my short jaunts was - it's soooo close to the fell of my Miata, which surprises given how much larger it is. Brakes, steering, shifting, handling, all felt so, amazing! and well I suppose like a Mazda.

When I'm ready, I'll order Nordic Green with the polished wheels - should be an eye catcher.

Thanks for the tip on Trussville. Seems like very reasonable pricing. This is the 1st I have been able to find accessory pricing.

Hopefully I don't need to buy the 2nd set of wheels and there is some sort of "swap credit". Anyone know about this?

I bought a set of polished 18 inchers myself. Center caps are extra; tire pressure transponders are a LOT extra unless you have them transferred from your original wheels. Check the threads with parts for sale about selling your original wheels. I kept mine to use for a set of snow tires. You'll certainly find lots of helpful info from the nice people who contribute to this site. I've learned a lot!

how difficult is it to transfer the pressure sensors to the new rims?

i am about to order my polished wheels too, and i assumed that the sensors would be there already.

I'm not positive, but I think the transponders thread together easily through the valve stem hole. I saw a picture of something similar somewhere on this forum. My dealer quoted me $111 each for the transponders. I had expected them to be included with the wheels, also. Trussville Mazda apparently has prices as good as anyone's. I like the way the wheels set off the car. They're not quite as shiny as I expected -- not like chrome, but a very nice look!

I had the polished wheels installed Monday, and was present when they swapped the sensors over (they do NOT come with the wheels). The sensors have a sleeve that screws on the stem after it's put through the valve stem hole, it was very simple.

Did you keep your original wheels or did your dealer give you some kind of credit?

I kept the old wheels, and they already have Hoosier's on them.........
