Please post your experiences using Xylene

I just got done reading a lot about using Xylene as a performance fuel additive. I'd like to hear more from those who have used it. Good? Bad? Neither.

Thanks!

anyone?

Do a search using xylene and toluene as search terms. There was a good thread on this about five months ago. Personally, I know nothing about it.

I did that, thanks. I was looking for updated info from those that have been using it.

Uh don't rotary race engine use NON race gas, just normal pump gas??? ... i.e. not 100-114 octane???

The fuel additive you mention are known for their properties because they increase the octane rating of normal gas from what I've heard. The Subaru guys use it here & there but there is some risk involved but I forgot what it was...

X-stoff.....

I 'know-a-guy' who has used lots of xylene and toluene, here and there.....

It is really only best for raising the octane rating for high compression motors. The density is a little lighter than most 'summer' gasoline, so you won't see any huge power increase, unless your engine was near to detonation, and the knock sensor was losing timing advance.

Would be great for a turbo that needed to raise the boost level.

Not much use in an '8.....they seem to be unaffected by octane ratings.....anything above 90 seems ok. NOT to say it won't 'ping', but in normal tune, anything seems acceptable.

I used tolune, mineral spirits, and a little ATF (40 oz. to 8 gal 93 octane gas) and noticed a difference.....esp. when the next tank I got was just 93 octane gas, no octane booster. Anyone want the info on this mixture, just do a search on google for "how to make octane booster"

Be careful that you don't use it often, as over time it will eat through many of the non-metal parts in the fuel system (elastomers).
