plastic seat parts broken...anyone else?
 I have noticed that the plastic covers (on the front R. side of passenger seat, and the back L. side) of the seat tracks have come off....tabs broken. Anyone else have this problem, and if so, did the dealership order new ones under warranty?

Mine are busted too. Will get 'em to look at it next time I take it in.

Originally posted by winter If a broken plastic tab is enough to convince you not to buy an rx8, you probably shouldn't be buying one. i was referring to "problems" with rx8. they are in fact things that bother me from time to time...as it should others. im around the forum simply because i love the car...but want to know it inside and out before making a purchase. |
I notice that the plastic door sills scratch easily from getting in and out, too. The aluminum sills do not replace all of the plastic. Has anyone else seen this? I am 6'3", so maybe its just someone as tall as I am with that problem.
No bashing here! The car is F#$%$# awesome! |
Some of you are good for some comic relief. You want to know more about a car you are thinking about buying than a girl you're thinking of marrying.
|
Now that's funny, only now I'm starting to worry that I need to check all my spouse prospects for broken plastic buttons on their blouse. Aw man, what am I saying - just less work for me.
I checked out a cloth-seat equipped RX-8 today and indeed, the plastic part covering the seat track is on pretty flimsy. All in all, the quality of the interior materials is pretty good, but more importantly, the car drives great, and hell, that's why we're buying them. |
BINGO!!!!!
You've got it ByeByeSaturn. |
RiCE, keep in mind that you're reading comments by people with motivation to post them on here. Keep in mind also that you're reading comments from a huge sampling of 8 owners. Nobody's going to post about a plastic part that DIDN'T break. You're only going to see posts about the parts that do. Now, if 350 people all have the same broken plastic part, maybe you should worry. Two guys out of god-knows how many, wouldn't scare me at all.
The substantive issues that I've seen have to do with flooding, gas mileage, and oil consumption. All of which I'm very comfortable with. Like someone said, if you don't feel good about buying an 8, then by all means buy something different. I doubt anybody here will get worked up over it. :) It's a great car and the interior is on par with other cars in its cost range. No major problems with mine so far and I've got a bumeper-to-bumper in case something comes up..... |
if a woman I was interested in hed her own forum with over 7000 members I would be scared too.

What is this part
I found this part just after the kids scrambled out of the back seat...I didn't notice just exactly where it goes. I'm guessing this is the plastic seatbelt anchor cover discussed in this thread. If so, how (where) do I fix it?

see if there's a broken tab on the inside of the plastic part, then superglue the tab in place, let it set, then put the part back on like it's on the other side.............otherwise, you need to let the Dealership order you a new one, maybe under warranty.

Mazda interior parts havealways been known to be frail and shitty. I bet by the end ofthis year Ill need to get at least 6 parts replaced that have worn out or fell off. I got the sloppy armrest cover replaced 2 months ago and the new one is already starting to get loose too. Nothing shocking from Mazda

Jerky
Thank god, your not my customer.. Id hate to be your salesman =) |
Armrest cover?? Hmmmmmmmm. Not a problem so far with mine!
|
Do a search the armrest cover has been an issue. I had mine replaced under warranty.
