Plastic Bumper clip broken

Just the other day I was getting the Borla exhaust installed and I noticed that the plastic clip (left) on the front bumper was dangeling off. I took it to the Mazda daelership only to have them tell me that it's not covered. I asked how much it would be to replace it and they told me that I had to buy the whole bumper to replace a dollar part. The total cost would be 290 dollars all said and done. They also said that they contacted mazda corp. to see if it was covered and they said no.. My question.. or questions.. are the following:

What if it breaks again. It's still under warranty.. Your telling me that I will have to pay 300 dollars possibly every few months if it breaks again.. isnt this a design defect?

Has anyone elses plastic clip broke yet?

The explination that they gave to me was because it could be caused by a rock or aggressive driving.. whatever that means..

Thankx for your input!!

Pictures would sure be nice...

what does this clip do exactly? Sounds like its actually part of the bumper rather than a "clip" that holds pieces in place/together.

I ran over a opossum (sp) the other night doing about 50mph... that sucker squoze under the airdam and and got run over by one of the rear tires... it was a nice sized animal... about 15 pounds. No damage done to my car... and although he wasn't still in the road when I turned around... he was surely hurting. Poor critter. :(

I have no idea.. it's the little clip thats visible by looking at your front bumper... it connects the bottom to the top and it's located under your grill...

I was parking my car, and ran into one of the parking blocks they had. The bottom of my front airdam scraped it and tore some of the holes that the screws were secured in, out. Not sure what to do, took it in to dealership. The guy said I would have to replace the whole bumper to fix it or I can just stick some tape or somethin... He said Quick Tex? Anybody know what that is? I figure the adhesive of the tape would just wear out over time, so it's kinda useless.

Yeah.. if Mazda corp says the same thing.. I am just going to buy some of that apoxi that builders use to chemically bond pipes together.. If anyone thinks this is bogus that it's not covered let me know..

Thankx!
