Pinch me! I must be dreaming!
I went and test drove a 04 with 42,000 miles on it. The guy wanted $11,000 for it. It was not in good shape so I left. Went home, got on Autotrader.com and found the holy grail! There she was : 2004 Touring, 7,000 miles! $12,500!
Needless to say I called the guy right around 8 the next morning, drove an hour to meet the guy halfway and it was IMMACULATE! now I need to get to the bank, get my money and drive back down, get the title and drive this beauty home! The ONLY downside is that its silver (not my favorite color, but it's still gorgeous) but all things considered, i'll deal with it! If anybody cares, i'll try to get pics soon |
Good luck with the sale hopefully he doesnt pull it from under you. SS is really not that bad of a color. And if you really hate it. You can always save a few thousand for a paint job.
But also before you pull the trigger, ask him about the service maintance. Such as oil changes every 3k or 3 months. Have coils/plugs been replaced? Does he redline the car often? Given the mileage and the year it seems that either the car was driven very seldomly. Which for a rotary, if it sits for a while it needs more attention for the first few drives. Than it would have been if the car was driven daily. |
how many oil changes you can do in 7000 miles ,coils, plugs?????
|
Change the oil every 3 months no matter if the car was barely driven it was still sitting there. It would be nice if the plugs/coils would have been replaced once but not really needed. Just the age of the parts and the fact its been barely driven over the years.

That's some low mileage D:

my grandfather just sold his 1977 trans am (smoke and bandit) with 7,000 orginal miles on it.
now THAT is low miles! I'd say its a good deal, get a silver/black/carbon fiber theme going it would look nice |

that kind of mileage can be good and/or bad news. make sure you do a bit of homework on the forum here and check out the car thoroughly when you go back, just for peace of mind. in any case, you'll still have the engine warranty. sunlight silver is a nice color on the 8

Mazda's silver is not that bright/metallic, but IMO silver is definitely one of the rx8's best colors. Black is most impressive on most vehicles, but it's a bitch to keep clean and shows every scratch and scuff. And it's hell in the summertime. White does seem to suit the rx8 well although most people can't do white on a sportscar, too boring. Red is nice but it is not everybody's cup of tea and gets too much attention. Blue is also nice and I've pondered painting my 8 blue, but after having a blue 8 around for the past couple of weeks doing a rebuild on it, I've decided that I like my silver better after all.
Bottom line, don't hate on the silver. |
