picking up soon...question

Are the 8's on the lots already flashed with the m or l or whatever...or do they leave them and not flash them...?

mamccubbin 04-27-2004 09:54 PM

Check with the dealer. Since the M flash is supposed to be done on all 8s, I would guess the dealer should take care of them.

From my experience the M flash is not done on cars at lot as it not a recall class work. If you mention your M flash requirement they should do it after your purchase and charge it to Mazda as work under warranty. Might be good to get this understanding with dealer prior to picking up the car.

Definatley mention it before you sign. It's usually not that hard to get them to do it afterwards (my dealer took a little prodding) but easier to get it handled up front.

The cars on the lot will not, as Painter said, be done automagically to all cars on the lot.

my car was bought this month and didn't have M. they flashed it for me no problem though.

Also - make sure the air bag recall is done if it is supposed to be. I picked mine up after the recall, but it had not been done - even though Mazda tells the dealers to do all the vehicles on the lot before selling them.

M Flash is noticeable to me

My car was about less than 500 units from already having the M flash from the factory.

I finally got tired of the near-flooding events today and just stopped by the service department. Dropped it off, had lunch and came back to a freshly flashed RX-8.

I noticed a midrange performance increase (at least via "seat of the pants") as soon as I drove the car off the dealer lot.

So far, so good.

How did you find that out? My car was built in February -- can you tell me if it has the M flash already?

Thanks!

The TSB has the VIN numbers listed.

I'm picking up my 8 tomorrow. It did not have the flash, so I asked for it. It took a little prodding (I showed them the TSB) but it should be done when I pick it up tomorrow. I'll check for stickers and do the brake test before I take delivery.

I don't know what exactly your experience was like. But I tend to find that a lot of the Dealer Personnel I have encountered when buying a car like to act "dumb". You ask them specific questions about the product they are supposed to be selling and they are like "uuuhhh, I don't know"; which I find hard believe and quite annoying....like its some sort of selling technique I don't know about.

I can just see when its my turn to sign papers and I ask them If its flashed up to M they'll be all like " M Flash???...whats that??"
