Sorry to bump .. so i took my battery that has been stored and fullly charged to start up my car this weekend. At first it wasnt starting (i didnt tighten the clamps) so i took it out and fully charged it again then i tightened everything and it started right now.
Now quick question if i take the battery out store it in the closet. Should i leave a trickle charger on it ? Just not a big fan of leaving my battery plugged in in case it blows up lol. |
There's really no need to trickle charge when it's out of the car,but I would do it once it's back in the car for a couple of days before you start for the 1st time in the spring.

I would not store a conventional battery in a closet. A sealed gel cell, yes, but not anything that might vent. Ken |
Well its a yellow top optima not sure what type it is. its sitting in my closet right now and i didnt trickle charge. I plan on full charging it before i fire up my car in the summer or the next time i start her up again.

According to the specs on Optima's web site, it's sealed and spillproof. They also say it can be brought back from deep discharge multiple times. So you're fine. Sorry if I caused any anxiety - I've just had enough entertaining experiences with conventional batteries.
