parts source for my new (to me) SCCA spec track car ?

Where do you source parts ? OEM and non ?

So I got an RX8 in the fall and it is still on the trailer in my barn. It has been stored for 3+ years so need to start thinking about getting it all sorted out. It has a Petit 13B Race spec engine so got good advice from them on the re-start process.

I know I will need

1) Brakes (rotors, pads, and maybe calipers) where can I source OEM ones ?
2) New exhaust and mid pipe (most likely going w HKS Hi power) source for this ?
3) wheels/tires

And tons of TLC. Will replace all fluids and check over the Motons.

In case you haven't figured out I don't care what it looks like. Also, for now, I only plan to use it for HPDEs and maybe TTs, don't plan to do any wheel to wheel so not concerned about class rules.

The vendors on the forum to start. And classified ads, ebay, etc.

Mazdaspeed Motorsports Development, parts.com, onlinemazdaparts.com for OEM parts.

Just shop around for aftermarket stuff, like you would for anything else.

Those are nice rims already. I buy my tires from whoever has them cheapest, but a contact of mine at the local Discount Tire usually beats any online price for anything they can get.

As has been mentioned, check out the vendors section. there are a lot of good companies selling parts for these cars. RX8Club.com - Vendor Directory

1) Brakes (rotors, pads, and maybe calipers) where can I source OEM ones ?
- Mazmart is a good source for OEM and aftermarket parts. I've had good luck with rock-auto for rotors. If you are tracking the car, OEM calipers and rotors will be fine, I would not use OEM pads. Check out the racing section of the forum. There is a lot of discussion on pads. I have used Hawk HP+ as well as Carbotech XP10. I also know people who have used Hawk Blue and Hawk Black. All are good pads, but have different characteristics and feel. The Carbotechs are my preference and what I use now.

2) New exhaust and mid pipe (most likely going w HKS Hi power) source for this ?
- I use the racing-beat midpipe with a TurboXS catback. It is fairly loud for street driving, but I haven't had issues with sound requirements at tracks. The strictest track I have been to is AMP which requires 96 db at 50 ft. The HKS is a little louder, but also lighter. Check out the vender section for sources.

3) wheels/tires
- What size wheels and tires are on it now? The wheels you have should be fine. Check the date code on the tires. If they have decent tread, are not cracked, and are not 4+ years old they should be fine for a few events starting out. Check out Tire Rack for tires. Stock size is 225/45/18. I have run 245/40/18 with only minor fender rolling required. 225/50/17 and 245/45/17 are close if you have 17" wheels.
- What is your track experience level? If you are new, I would recommend a 200TW extreme performance summer tire like the Dunlop Direzza ZII Star Spec, or the BFG Rival. They don't have as much grip a a slick, but have plenty of grip for HPDE and learning, give good feedback, and will last longer than racing slicks. If you have some experience and aren't competing, I would recommend something like the Nitto NT01, Toyo R888, or similar 100TW tires. These have more grip than the extreme performance summer tires, but don't last as long. If you are competing, look at the rule book. Most classes have limitations on tire width and type, or will bump you in to a higher class if you have too sticky of a tire.

Hope this helps.

THANKS I WILL check out vendors here !
1) Brakes (rotors, pads, and maybe calipers) where can I source OEM ones ? I should have been more clear, need a source for Calipers. I'll look at Mazmart. I plan to ran track pads with plain rotors and OE calipers. I've had good luck w Hawk DTC-60s up front. I like Carbotech XP12s as well but pricey. I find Bestbrakes a good source for pads and rotors.

2) New exhaust and mid pipe (most likely going w HKS Hi power) source for this ?
I do run at LimeRock Park and they do have a 92 db limit. Hmmm. Maybe I will get a hi flow cat in mid pipe.

I have run HDPEs for decades so mostly likely going to go with a Toyo 888. RA1s were my favorite. I have used NT01s as well. I do have 17" wheels and Moton Club Sport coilovers. Also only doing HPDEs so don't need to worry about any class rules.

THANKS FOR ALL THE HELP>
