Parking for winter, fuel conditioner?

I live in Owen Sound and am just waiting for the first snow (which is just around the corner) before I put my 8 away. I have prepaid, heated storage until May 2006.

What type of fuel conditioner would you recommend I add to my gas tank? The dealer is about to do my 18,000 km check and oil change.

TIA

I would mix any major fuel stabilizer, such as Stabil. Mix it in the recomended ratio and then fill the tank COMPLETLY (if you can, some storage places wont allow a full tank). That way there is little air traped in the tank, for condensation and such.

Then this spring, mix in some fuel injector cleaner and a good octane booster and blast all the junk out!

I second the Stabil and the tank filling. Mixed some in last winter and filled the tank to the brim. Absolutely no problems when I got her out this spring. Ordered wheels and snows yesterday for my baby. No storing this year.

Hey guyz,

I am going to be a future buyer of the Rx-8 and I would like to know, what you feel about having her (it) :) driven in the winter time? I would like to drive yearly but I've noticed some of you said you park it up. Is there any certain risks to having the car driven year round?

Also I live in Toronto just to give you an idea of winter conditions, not ver great.

Thanks in advanced.

I'm so new to rotarys it's sick so check this out but don't quote me. I have a friend that bought an old 7 once that had been sitting for a while, his mechanic told him to add I think transmission fluid? Before starting in the spark plug wholes?. He did do it, it smoked like a bastard and ran perfect after clearing its throte. Again, only check it out, don't take my word on it. I'm not sure if it's a rotary thing, just an old 7 targa thing, or just a bunch of crazy canucks being stupid. Anyways, fuel stabilizer for sure.
