Paint Question.

My car had front end damage a while ago and I took it to a body shop to have it repaired. Now, when I got it back, I drove it for one day and there are now rock chips all over the front of my car. What should/can I do?
Is that from too thin of clear coat, paint still too fresh?
Idk, but I'm pretty upset.

Paint is still too fresh.
Paint takes many months to fully cure. So be careful if you try to buff out those rock chips.

Depending where you live the weather is going to play a very big part. during the winter, fresh paint will take a bit longer to fully cure than during the summer or warmer climate. if i were you i would not try buffing the damaged areas anytime soon, let it cure and hope for the best

Yea, I live in WV. I was on my way to school and was cut off by a fucking coal truck. The chips are down to the metal. Looks like I'm just going to have to save for a respray :/

Appreciate the kind words! Just wish Copper Red wasn't so expensive haha

I hear ya man, maybe you want to invest in one of those leather protectors or those clear vinyl films to protect the front of your car, the way i see it, a few bucks could save a few hundred dollars worth a paint damage

Being cut off by a truck does not give you a ton of rock chips. By the time you could get away, maybe 1 little chip. You must have been drafting that guy like a stock car racer.

And if the chips are to the metal, get them fixed NOW!!!!! If not the rust will begin within a few hours and ruin the whole panel.

I worked in body shops for years, I couldn't count the number of times I have seen this. Did they not tell you the paint was still wet, be careful with it? avoid contact, hand wash only. etc etc

You've never lived in WV then. It was a 2 lane road going to 1 lane, I didn't have enough space to pass before so I was stuck behind. Nothing but rocks were coming from underneath the truck...not that it matters.
Yea, I'm seeing what my options are.

You could have backed off to avoid the rocks.

Go back to your body shop. If they are in a good mood they will patch the chips and re-buff the paint, it will look perfect
