So bought my car from a dealer in 2006 in florida. It was brand new with no miles on it. When I picked up the car it had what looked like horrible water spots on it (someone didn't wash the soap off completely.) They told me to let them keep it for a day or so so they could rewash and buff the paint to get rid of them. They told me that they thought it had clear coat damage from acid rain or harsh soap but they buffed out everything and applied a clear coat protector on it to protect it. Now several years later the problem has slowly started to come back. Every time I wash it I notice more and more of these blemishes even though I throughly dry it afterwards. Also I have started to notice that the paint has begun to have extremely small chips in it around the hood and side panels. I now live in California (Air Force) or I would have taken it back to the original dealer by now. I have posted up close pics of the paint after a thorough wash and dry. Any suggestions or comments?

 

have you tried polishing it yet?
those may come out just by hand
if not a polish and wax with a rotary buffer is in order

 

I have not tried a "rotary" <~~ (lolz) buffer. I have however tried to wax it by hand with no luck.

 

have you buffed/wax/polished at all, in the past years? cause your supposed to wax a car twice a year...

 

wax will just cover those watermarks.
I'm pretty sure if you get a bottle of polish and an applicator pad just do the rub on, wipe off and they should be gone.
that would probably be the cheapest solution.

These marks look very "dirty". When in Florida especially was your car around a sprinkler system that pumped from a well or canal that might've sprayed it? I ask because the iron in the water there leaves similar stains, and a good claying with a claybar should get them out. After that, a good polish and wax should follow. If its etched in there you might need a cleaner wax or even compound.

 

Yep, I'd try a clay bar on it for sure.

 

where are you located ... if your close ill take em out for you for free ... some clay and mild polish should fix it if not try a dual action using mild abrasive polish with a 3m orange pad im yet to try rotaries ...

 

For a BB. I'd suggest Sleek from car-brite.
It wont leave behind any hollograms or haze you get from other polishes. (which'll show really easy on a black car)

I'm not sure how easily its accessible in stores. But I've used it on my car. It works great.

Im at Travis AFB right beside Fairfield, CA.

 

1. Wash with Dawn dish soap to remove all prior wax.
2. Clay bar using ample detailing spray as a lubricant.
3. Use white vinegar as a mild acid to dissolve the hard water (mineral deposited) spots.
4. Polish with a mild abrasive, ideally using a random orbital buffer.
5. Wax with Maguire's NXT Tech 2.0 wax or similar.
