The outer limits

Just wondering how many people will be tracking their car, either on a real track or autox to find out what they and the car can do.

When I got my first Miata I went out and took a performance driving school. It taught me that a) I was not as good a driver as I thought I was and b) where the limits of the car/driver are. I have since been able to improve as a driver and improve the handling of the car.

How many people here plan to explore the limits.

PS. If anyone is planning to find the limits on the street, let me know so I can stay far away.

I will undoubtedly be doing something stupid with my 8 on the street (you should have seen me with my light truck, LOL) but you are already waaaaaaay far away from me so no worries. Just look out for a silver 8 if you ever come down to Los Angeles.

Lapping and auto-x here I come. I'm curious how well the brakes will hold up on the Mosport large track.

Yeah, you've got a couple of long braking zones there, don't you?

Are you planning on taking the dust shields off?

I'll be autocrossing mine regularly. I plan on attending the Solo II Nationals in Topeka this year, and if I can't find someone who wants a tire warmer, I'll be running my 8. I won't have any race rubber by then, so there's no way it'll be competitive, but it'll be fun. :)

As for track events, the wife and I will be taking our Miata and RX-8 to Texas World Speedway for the last weekend in November, and possibly to one or two one-day events at Motorsports Ranch between now and then.

Shannonville is my preferred Ontario track as there's fewer consequences (read: cement walls) should one accidentally go hors-piste . Many Auto X outings and a few lappings sessions planned.

We just had a TriCity Prelude meet at Shannonville past weekend.. The Ottawa, Montreal and Toronto chapters. I think it was about 80 cars.

Fritzman are you part of MCO?

I have taken the winter and performance driving schools, as have my wife and sons. I was hoping to take the track school this year but our 91 Miata was DOA. We just put a new engine in it and I hope to have a roll bar by next season so I can take the school then.

We get a free track day for buying an RX-8 in the UK.

Full day of track driving with instructors telling you what to do, and how to look after your car etc.

Nice :)

And if you cant get there or dont want to , they come to you and do a road driving course :)

Except we dont have any cars yet :(
