was out and about today....

Went to a mazda dealer, only second one I have been to so far and what did they have sitting there for me to see but a left over 05 mx-8 with sport package. asking a bit under $23k for it with less then 100 miles on her.

Was looking for an automatic thus was thinking more on a 2006 thanks to the replies I got from members on the board.

Any down side to a left over 2005 mannual shift model? It did drive really nice, no sun roof, nav or power driver seat. Any or all of those might be nice. Anything beyond those items I could probably live without anyways.

Nice color by the way...

I take it you meant RX-8? I'm very happy with my 05. With no sun roof you'll have more head room, although the only time that's an issue for me is when wearing a helmet.

Hate to pick on a newbie but you started two threads with mx-8. Do you even know what car you are looking at? Please do some research on your own and don't rely on others to tell you if you get a good deal on a car. You will hear much BS about pricing even on this forum, no matter what it is you figure out the car you are really looking at.

I'd negotiate for an out the door price of $23500.

yes been typing mx since my first post and realized I did it again while out at dinner tonight. old age, stupid...take your pick, I will deal with it.

did drive a cx-7 since I had not done that before but like my highlander more.

do though like the rx-8 even though I'm typing the mx-8. besides don't I get a few points for having owned a rx-7 in the old days. Loved that body style though was a bit of a pain to take off the sun roof and store it in back each time you wanted to open the roof up...for those of you that remember back then.

so far as researching for pricihng goes my question dealt with 2005 pricing so failed to realize the auto sites still post that info but indeed I will go check it out tomorrow.

anyway price dealer has seems fair, now I just need to decide if I want to jump on it or not. that plus figure out my bank balance. toys can be expensive.

enjoy your rides and good nite

+1 for a former 1st gen RX-7 owner :wavey:

I fondly remember the "crank it up, take it off and strap it in the back" sunroof process. Come back to the rotary family. If you enjoyed your RX-7, you'll love the 8. It's better in every way. The 9000 redline is much more addicting that the 7000 redline ever was. :yumyum:

memories....

that is funny...
I remember giving a lady friend a chance to drive my rx-7 back then...think she was still very new to a stick and next thing I know she got the rpm up to red line and I asked what the #*$? she was doing.

she explained she thought you were suppose to do that. lesson ended shortly after that time.

a nice memory anyway.

I too had a first gen rx7. 82 gsl. I had the "killer bee" setup on it and header with no cat at all. What was cool is it blew large flames out the back when downshifting, freaked alot of people out!

Well, er...............with the auto $1000 rebate, I walked out the door with a 2006 sport package (13 miles on the odometer) for 25K. Dealers are practically giving this car away. Personally, I'd spend the 15 hundred bucks just for the cool sensation of strapping into a brand new car...............
