ordered the racing beat protector screens - question
Hello,
I should have my racing beat oil cooler screens and my condenser screen in next week, cant wait to get them installed. My quesiton is: what actual color are they? are they silver or black? (it might be a stupid question) ive just seen pictures on here of people with the silver finish screens and then others with black screens? My car, being brilliant black, what do you think would be the best look? Leave it how it comes? or (if its not black) go ahead and spray paint the screens black to match my car? If anyone has a Brilliant black with either natural unpainted screens or painted, please post? would love to observe the difference. Thanks! Jeff |
they are silver finish from racing beat
don't have a pic and i have Vred anyway. I reckon you should paint them black as IMO they stand out too much in silver. |
The screens come unpainted, in silver. I just put them on as-is on my Ti-Gray, and they look fine to me installed, but I feel it would look better if painted in black. The silver mesh is not really consistent with the center black grille opening. On black, there might be a different story, I'm not sure. I would say, first try it silver, put on the bumper (but don't secure it yet) and see what you think. If you're not satisfied, take the oil cooler screens off and paint it black. The meshes are easy to remove.

Definately paint them black with some high heat spray paint. While I was in there, I gave the front of the oil coolers a quick shot as well to clean them up. Personally, I don't consider these dress up items so I didn't really want them to stand out. I can't understand why they didn't come on the car in the first place.

The Hymee powder coated ones I got look sweet.Their powder coated black. Now I just gotta get 'em put on.

Just remember after awhile you will have to re-paint them due to chips from rocks.

Jeff As far as finish I think it's just up to personal preference. I've seen them in silver and also painted or powder coated. They all look great. Might be worth checking out some pics here before you install them. |

I didn't paint the ac screen though because no one is really going to notice it unless they look under the car.

Interesting - anyone have opinions or pictures on coordinating with the Winning Blue? Black seems better.
Maybe someone like BunnyGirl could show the factory screens on a Winning Blue `06. |

I have the Black Cherry paint (virtually black, for all intent and purposes), and I like the way the silver oil cooler screens look. The car is SO dark that I feel a lot of the 8's lines and details get lost—the silver screens peeking through are kind of a nice accent or highlight on the dark car. I have the stainless steel strakes and like them for the same reason. |
