Which one of these four would win in a straight-road race?
'08 Mazda RX-8 Sport (automatic)
'11 Mitsubishi Lancer GTS (automatic) '07 Scion tC (automatic) '10 Hyundai Genesis Coupe 2 t(manual) So which of these would win in a 10 MILE straight-road race? just curious (: |
I'm gonna go ahead and say the Genesis coupe. Those things are pretty damn fast. TC's aren't very fast, and neither are lancers. And the auto rx8 is limited to around 130 mph. Pretty much whoever has the highest top speed since its a straight line race. You meant straight line right? lol.
|
Who cares they are 3/4 autos. Unless that auto 8 is forced induction then no point.
|
I'll say the rx8...enough said.
|
10 mile straight? which ever has the highest top speed wins.
|
So what if I change the same Mazda into a manual instead??

Why do i have a feeling he is trying to decide what car to buy by figuring out which one is "the fastest".
And technically it wouldn't be the one with the highest top speed that would automatically win, there are a TON of factors from altitude, drag, humidity, weight, etc etc etc |

Irrelevant question, the owner of the genesis is the winner because he is the only one with a manual transmission car. :)
I'm a little biased... |

Since some people here are being little b*tches, I'm gonna go ahead change the distance to 1 MILE.
Reason why I'm asking is because I'm getting mixed information. People are saying that the 8s are very powerful, have 230 hp, and 6.3 seconds for 0-60mph. Then I'm seeing other people say that they don't have a reach in a straight line race, only 130 mph. I don't know which one is legit one but why would people buy this car when it only gets an average of 15 mpg and only had 130hp. That's way too weak for a "sports" car that has only that little power. Not worth it, imo. |
Roblucci, Be careful...
8's are not a car to "buy because they are affordable". I got mine for around $9000 with 70k miles on it. I bought it knowing that I would be getting 10-20 mpg(I regularly get 11mpg, almost all city) I also bought it knowing that due to it's rather impressive construction, any sort of body work would cost a fortune. For example. http://i54.tinypic.com/f4fo5h.jpg That's a $1300 fix. I can go on and on. But from what I can tell you are buying a car for the wrong reasons, I highly suggest you buy an 8, but with fair warning and do your research. From what I can tell, what you are looking for is a turbo, N2O, '94 Honda civic hachback. And in a 1 mile race the genesis and 8 would be close if the 8 driver knew what he was doing. The other cars aren't even in question... |

What about a manual 8??
But seriously man if you are honestly considering buying an 8, just do a bunch more research. They are truly remarkable cars if you can learn how to own one properly. |
