OK to clean MAF sensor?

I was at the dealer today, getting new taillights cause there was condensation build up! well I told him to clean my MAF sensor because I forgot to do it and the service manager just gives me this look, and starts yelling at me sayin you're not supposed to clean it ever, because it has som calibrations and sensitive wires(which i know already), but u can clean it gently and becareful... well any way he goes on where if u get it wet you have to buy a new maf sensor.... and he kept goin on and on about how mazda can void my warranty, and how he was gonna make a mark in my file that i cleaned it before... can anyone varify this....

Ok.....

Gently, using the right solvent, is OK. He overreacted.

He's blowing smoke up your pink curly tail. Service managers dont like cusomers working on their own cars because that is work that they don't get to charge you for. The only way they can void your warranty is IF THEY CAN PROOVE that you broke the part while fudging with it. (abrasion marks on the inside of the MAF, forced harnesses etc. But they cannot void your warranty/ penalize you for working on your own car (although they would love to)
On their defense, they are a lot of ricers out there, that frack arround with their cars without having the slightest clue what they're doing (someone even told me once that they would get better performance out of their 13B by cross wiring their leading/trailing plugs) they damage their car, and then expect the dealership to fix it under waranty.
