Disassembled the engine the rest of the way this evening.... doesnt look too good. Found the primary reason why the engine was toast. Will be uploading a few dozen pictures tomorrow with my findings.

Also, id like assistance finding the best deals on new or used replacement parts where applicable, if anyone doesnt mind assisting. Have a good evening everyone, check back in with yall tomorrow.

We've given you our best idea. My second best is to look up part numbers and then google the part number. More and more Mazda dealers are using a specific ecommerce package from Revolution Parts and it's driving down prices. Google does a good job of indexing them so that's a good bet.

Im going to need more than that most likely, look close at the side and corner seals on the front rotor after I took off the middle iron. The rotor contacted the iron and wore itself a flat spot and fubared it there too. Plus on the same rotor face that the 4 dents exist on, the side seal on the side of the middle iron is stuck at the very center as well, so most likely the rotor smacked the housing. You can even see the deformation in some pictures.

If I am wrong about any of this please correct me. I need...
New bearings, bushing and the plate that are assembled into the front stationary gear
New bearing in the rear stationary gear
Eccentric shaft
front rotor
At least one, maybe two housings
Irons if these are fubar'ed when they get inspected for step wear or other issues

I'm thinking it might be better to slap this thing back together and use it as a core, even though (almost) all the seals would be reusable, the major components requiring replacement make up at this point about 70% of the motor. I might get lucky and find replacement parts super cheap though, especially since some of these things sell dirt cheap used and would be acceptable to use in a rebuild.

Do some research on this if you are planning to track the car... Might be ok for auto-x.

This is one place that I have found with a little better pricing then most. If anyone wants to list the price for a housing from MMD for comparison it would be appreciated. The below dealer has the housings listed for N3H1-10-B10C for $665/ea.

But how are the pistons?

That is the cleanest tear-down I think I have ever seen. Is it a recent rebuild? If not, it must have been steam cleaned by a coolant seal failure. Or maybe, just maybe... Seafoam works?!

[Edit]

I just read your WOT and see it is a recent "rebuild". I would say your assessment is correct. It is probably more valuable as a core exchange than it is as a parts donor. It is very difficult for a first timer to rebuild a rotary successfully for the $3000 that a reman costs. I would bolt it back up and exchange it, personally.

My apoligies for the lack of updates and of commenting on my findings, its been very busy at work lately and at home so i havent had the time yet. I am however going to Palm Tree Rotary this morning and getting the parts inspected for reusability

Verdict from Palm Tree Rotary this morning;
Reusable parts include: Rear Rotor
...
And that's it.
Motor will be reassembled and used as a Mazda core.
A new teardown thread will be created for the motor currently in my car that still runs with low compression. Will update with exact damage found later on. Thank you all for coming to view the results of this teardown. Luck just wasn't on my side this time when it comes to the core motor condition itself.

Welcome to the Mazda reman club...

I'd offer to help you out but there's over 2000 miles in between us.

Thank you for sharing the pics of the teardown. It's always neat to see what caused the engine to fail. This one appears to be a Mazda reman which you are aware of. I wonder if Mazda was the last to rebuild it or if the person that rebuilt it left the reman tag on it. For what you paid I still think you did well.

Theres also about that much money missing between my bank account and the cost of a reman so dont feel bad.. lol
Hopefully i can afford one before sevenstock. I need enough time to put a few long break in drives into the motor.

damn Xero, was really rooting for there to be more usable parts but doesn't look like it would be worth rebuilding that motor.

Well, the core is worth up to $1,000, so I'd say he did OK on LetGo.
