odometer Plastic Issue
Man I hate starting a thread for something so stupid but I had to ask. I bought this bottle of Mother's VLR (vinyl leather rubber) cleaner for my seats which works great but I have an issue. Upon spraying the seats and steering wheel I got some on the plastic that covers the odometer and a little on the radio bar. I noticed it the next day and there's a bunch of tiny circles now and its bothering the crap out of me. I tried to Windex and used plastic x to no avail. I'm guessing I have to purchase new plastic. Is it that easy just buy the plastic and pop in or is it more to that. Can I buy that plastic that covers the radio bar as well. Sorry if I sound stupid plastic or Plexiglas whatever it is. What you guys think?

did you use a very dirty rug when you wiped it down? cuz it might be scratched.

because you sprayed a grease onto the plastic and didn't wipe it off before the sun baked it in. You need to use some dawn dish soap with warm water.

What ever is in this junk really jacked up the plastic. I guess i should start searching for replacement pieces. I'm so picky about little things like this. I'm the type to sell my car just because something so small is bothering me ha. I need to do something soon i HATE looking at my dash now, i put the lights on red so i wont always be pissed! Here's a few pics even after the dawn scrub and wipe down... Photo Album - Imgur |
I have a similar issue, just in a much smaller area. I have tried a couple different things, but eventually just started to pretend it wasn't there.

I'm not sue if you are willing to try again..but maybe vinager..windex does a good job but ive trying vinager on other things..so maybe it will do the trick..im not sure just throw you my idea..let us know if you figure something out or just buy new plastic

Use a plastic polish on it...Meguires makes one ...you might have some if you have one of those headlight refinishing kits.....the final polishing compound will likely work well

remove the plastic, and buff it out. You may have to use some 1000 grit sandpaper and then buff.. I have a headlight kit that was cheap. It attaches to a drill. It has a foam pad and I use rubbing compound. I sanded plexiglass down thinner with a rounded top and then buffed it out and it looks like glass.. Maybe you can get away with just buffing it first. that should do the trick though. Unsure how to remove, but I need to remove mine and buff it as well, as it has some scratches and circles like yours but not bad.
