Normal noises...

Hi all,

When i have my window down I can hear a "thunk" every time i shift. I also can hear various other noises some of whick may be the exhaust "popping". I am assuming this is normal....

Never owned a rotary or a manual car before so I am not sure...

With the window up all i hear are the normal odd noises from the engine and my annoying rattles.

J

The "thunk" is normal as I hear alot especially going into first to move from stop. My engine pops too but not loud. The rotory expert says all these are normal on the 8 from the numbers of threads I've read. Use the search feature on this site to look up some of your questions as most have been discuss before.

Here's all the noises I love:

1) That "George Jetson's spaceship" high pitched whir at idle.

2) The "bum-bum-burrble-bum" sound off throttle at low speed

3) The whine of the gear box going up through the gears

4) The start up sound "whirrrrrrr (starter), vaRUMMM, bum bum bum HMMMMMMMMM"

I find myself constantly driving with the stereo off, the windows either up or down, depending on mood and climate, just to enjoy the mechanical music.

I figured I was the only one driving with the radio off. All my other cars have had
loud systems w/huge subs. My friends were suprised when we went driving
around with the radio off. maybe I'm not so god dam weird after all.

Thank's for making me feel normal. :D

I don't shift properly if there is loud music playing. The car doesn't give much physical feedback, so I tend to rely on sound.
